Strong beers/ales/porters

I think that’s some of the reasoning behind the launch of their overworks sour beer brewery, trying to recapture leftfield. I think it’s a safe bet we’ll never see sour beers on the lines in spoons.

I think you will...I've been saying for a long time now that the sour market will explode at some point. It's very common now and getting more popular as breweries try to grow their clientele base. Our lass is even drinking sours now and she won't drink any other beer, that's the market that needs tapping into further. Just needs marketing properly.

Tiny Rebels birthday this Friday so fair few places having a take over. I know they're no longer a cool brewery as supermarkets have now started selling their product but they do some tremendous porters.

Got a pass out by the missus even though its valentines day (Just have to make sure I don't come home before her bit on the side leaves LOL).

Still love Tiny Rebel.

Chaplins had the Salted Caramel porter on at the weekend. Like a dessert in a glass.

Worst beer I've ever had was a sour in Isis, Raspberry Sorbet I think. Was so tart and medicinal it was just deeply unpleasant. Felt like there should be a hint of sweetness but none at all.

Sours is the one style that I can't get away with.

Sampling a few of the Town Mouse delights. Got one on that is 15%. I'm fan of these rare and often stronger slurps but that's flying into wine territory surely!? Be a canny short session on that.
Black band porter , think it was 5,5 , isis , spot on , nice celebratory sup , kirkstall brewery

Prefer a session beer around 4% then you can have a canny sup without getting mortal.
Sessioning on 6s and 7s does have an interesting side effect when you suddenly fall over with no warning. It’s a different kind of mortal compared to normal strength pints.
Had some earlier today.

I reckon sour is like the Emperor’s new clothes. People pretend to like it to appear cool.

Barley Wine is going to cost more due to the high% and extra tax, but it can overall work out cheaper if you are going to drink less volume. If you like the taste this could be a whole new approach to booze for you.

That's pretty much me as well. I want a few drinks with friends or family. Its about the company and the occasion. That said, a friend brought me back a selection Belgian beers at eyewatering strengths and they're nowhere near as bad as I expected, the two I've tried have been bloody beautiful. But not something I would ever drink with my dad on a Sunday lunchtime though.

It suffers badly from the name, which while accurate, puts the mass market off. When a brewery starts making "Sours" under something more marketable and trendy, I think you'll see them start to grow and Spoons will jump on it. First brewery to sign up to provide spoons with a Sour, will instantly then get accused of selling out and will instantly become unpopular with the trendy crowd, who will say "it used to be a good beer".

Any round here?
Saltgrass has that in week gone Friday.
I think you’ve been drinking too much of it 😄
