How can we stop the rubbish on the pitch?

That's what I said to my mate at half-time, why don't they get the ball boys to pick it up, would take 10 mins.
I’m sure this happened for a short while quite a few seasons ago. A couple of blokes with black bags grabbing the litter near the dug outs would have sorted this.

As an aside, after 4 minutes a bag went up vertically near the centre circle, swooped backed down and then flew into the net at the South Stand end. (I was watching it to gauge which way the wind was blowing😬)

See, I would turn it to our advantage.

Given that we have form with inflatables at the SOL, why not get half a dozen full-size blow-up dolls – not THOSE type of dolls, smutty minds – and dress them in full Sunderland kit.

Then we get the ball boys to unleash them on the pitch at opportune moments and as they swirl around they cause panic in the opposition who think they are being hideously overrun and then we can clear up. In more ways than one.

You never know, it MIGHT just work.

Get the ball boys or stewards to pick it up.

Is that too simplistic in this age over complication we live in?

Thats a wider ranging social issue, I simply presented a more realistic and achievable solution to the problem for consideration.

Good point. Stewards and ball boys have other duties during the game. Suppose they could clean up after for some overtime. Or cleaners could be called in. Or volunteers (their actions may shame some into not littering)

Some people just throw litter, it's an issue for society.

Currently our stadium looks scruffy as fuck to the people watching because nobody picks it up. It's a quick fix solution I proposed. Maybe instead of signing shite footballers like Grigg, Donald can invest some money in re-educating persistent SOL litterbugs going forward.

There’s some sort of vortex makes it swirl around there. People need to use the bins provided. Pretty simple
People need to use the bins provided, none of this nonsense of ball boys picking up rubbish.....they didn’t drop it! It’s the people in the stands!
People need to change this mindset that rubbish is someone else’s problem. When food is purchased....so is the packaging!
.They should fine people in my opinion

The rubbish was removed at half time. It spilled back onto the pitch about 10 mins into the second half, I think that whoever picked it up in the first place didnt tie the top of the bag properly. School boy error.

Yes I saw someone picking up the litter near the dug outs as the players went off at half time, so it’s obviously being addressed to a degree. Not sure why he couldn’t do that during the game too tho ?
I also saw a ball boy on the west stand south half sitting surrounded by litter at one point. Maybe they could have a bag on the other side of the hoardings and be told to pick anything up when there are breaks in play etc
Just doing a few little things will improve it a lot.

not sure people getting their view of the game obscured by litter pickers is fair, especially if they didn’t drop the litter.
Having litter pickers loitering round the technical area whilst the game has a going on would be distracting too as well as embarrassing with the cameras watching. Plus it will be costing the club extra money for cleaning.
The bottom line is the blame lies with those fans who can’t be arsed to use the bins provided. They bought the food and discarded the litter on the stand. If everyone used the bins there’d be no discussion!
