A lot of it is inverse snobbery IMHO, because be plays for Surrey and went to public school. Compare and contrast with the plaudits for Stokes on here when he was 24 with a significantly worse average than Curran.

How was it proven? Wood got a wicket because the new ball moved more than the old ball would have to induce an edge, proving he should have the new ball.

Philander (bowls at 75 mph and is retiring)
De Kock - maybe gets in ahead of Buttler but it's a tight call
Maharaj - not a chance he's better than Leach, Bess or Ali
Rabada - he's very good but who does he replace?

Yea can’t argue with it. Same issue as a lot of the smaller nations in cricket, just can’t cope on a depth level. Same issue as the windies. Really helps when we keep stealing their players on kolpak contracts
