[4th Test] South Africa v England

Really???? Didn’t know that thanks for an lesson marrow.

Because of course the only possible benefit to the new ball is swing, no benefit of extra bounce, extra pace off the pitch, seam movement or anything to consider...

Don't make obtuse statements if you don't want people stating the obvious.

Wood is a skiddy bowler and not especially tall. Extra bounce is not a major weapon in his arsenal. The Kookaburra literally only swings for 10-15 overs, so if there's any chance of movement you need your conventional swing bowlers bowling with it. It's the same reason you give Anderson the new ball when you have Archer, Wood or Stokes in the team.

Nothing obtuse about my statement. Curran is shite. Simple as that. Don’t see the need for your patronising statement which didn’t even tell the whole truth. Wonder why they ever gave the new ball to McGrath or Brett Lee by your logic, he was a much better reverse swing bowler than swing bowler. And I’m hardly the only one here who thinks that Curran shouldn’t be opening the bowling

Unbelievable stat this about Wood and Broad’s partnership.

There have been 15,330 partnerships of fifty or more in Test cricket. At 9.82 runs per over, that was the 11th fastest!

Shocking this from South Africa in a game they have to win and time taken out of the game due to weather and they crawling along, negative as owt
This SA team has a soft centre. They are desperately short of quality and are seemingly lacking fight.
Is there any player from SA who would get in England's side? I doubt it
