Ben Stokes is definitely English, right?

Sick of this Aussie twat who sits near me at work, constantly referring to Stokes as ‘another borrowed player’ and ‘same as KP and Trott’ and all that shite. Reckons I’m biased because he plays for Durham blah blah blah. So what’s the actual facts with Stokes so I can shut him up?

Ben Stokes born in Christchurch New Zealand but moved to England at age 12.

over half his life in england and nothing like trott and kp in his eligibility to play for england

australians dont like him as he basically stands up to their bollocks and wins on ability, that’s their problem and always will be

Then when he wakes up remind him that his entire continent is made up of borrowed players .

Tbf to KP (not something I'd usually say) wasn't his mam English?

I go by where your parents are from, mine are both English so wherever I was born in the world, I am made up of 2 English people.

What if one of your parents had a parent who was born outside of England? They are therefore NOT English and by extension neither are you. How many generations do you go back?

Ethnonationalist cackbabble.

You’d be half English/half (insert country) and you’d have the benefit of being able to chose what country to represent.

Dont forget his mother is English and from Sunderland too

Rather ironic patter given about half of international crickets are not really from said country, for most teams, not just us. Australia have a history of exactly the same thing. But it’s a multi cultural world now and this is what happens when people migrate so easily, especially in the richer countries. Could say the same in most sports around the world
