Whisky

Actually got told similar with wine, first sip tastes of alcohol then the 2nd sip you taste the wine.

'A minute in the glass for each year in the cask'. Hard to do in the pub, but if you're at home let it sit and breathe before you delve in.

Try a Rusty Nail. 2/3rds any blend plus 1/3rd Drambuie. Lovely stuff and will suit your sweet tooth!
Got a bottle of glenfiddich special old reserve in the house and begrudge opening it up for a cocktail, hoping my tastes change before it ends up in sours and old fashioned's:lol:

Oooft, 25 year old Highland Park is out of my league. Well played, would love to have tried it.

I didn't buy it and four of us shared it - probably the way it's meant to be supped.

My girlfriends dad has at least 25 bottles (probably more) of some great whiskys - he'll not drink for months then polish a bottle off in two days - I wish I could do that.

We bought a cheap single malt for cocktails thinking by the time the other ingredients go in it'll not make much difference what whisky you use but it was awful even full of lemon and sugar syrup it had a medicinal type taste, definitely get what you pay for.
bairn got me a bottle of JD honey for xmas(god knows why ive never indicated a preference for it as a vodka drinker) but its not bad and is very sweet. And I dont like scotch can just about manage irish

Poster up thread who recommended Ardberg & Lagavullin has called it. Laphroaig can be regularly found at £25 a bottle which is massive value for money. Ledaig from Mull also a good shout.

Ardbeg probably my favourite core malt....
Mainly like Islay stuff but there are some other belters out there ( Springbank, Kilkerran, Glen Scotia, Glengoyne etc)

dry January so not able to enjoy my expanding stash for a while yet.

A few of us off to Islay in May..about to book trips to Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Laphraoig and Bunnahabhai.

Can’t wait

Me and @moanjam are looking at Arran :D

All massively peaty though which in my experience puts people off (not me, I love the stuff).

Can highly recommend Kilkerran

Their heavily prayed and cask strength
are amazingly priced

Their 12 is lovely...no e150 and not chill filtered

Dalmore 15 is a nice one. I used to like the Jura’s before they changed for the worse.

the colour of Dalmore though
a bit too much caramel and style over substance regarding bottle/packaging.

agree regarding Jura...whether my tastes have changed or its gone downhill I’m not sure
