It was different to a Benitez performance to me. Benitez' team wasn't so quick to lump it upfield and would play it about a bit before hand. Also while Rondon was a targetman he was way more mobile than Carroll. Also Perez provided support to Rondon, where ASM and Almiron are way too deep to help Carroll.

Bruce deserves credit for the result, but it was a robbery and we relied on some some poor finishing from Sheff Utd and some outstanding saves from Dubravka.

It’s hilarious. Rafa only gets a mention on here. Nobody I go to games with, or speak to, talks about him. We supported him while he was here, he’s gone now so f*ck him.
Quite happy with our situation atm, but waiting for him to have a downward spiral as you all suggest on here.
But yes, I find it funny that he’s sound so well. Long may it continue.

And 2 points of 5th its a great run of form. But you just cant quite enjoy it quite as much as you would like cos its Bruce and not Rafa. Strange bunch.

Haha give owa man - one of my mates reckons the only reason they are where they are is because after a dodgy start he followed 'Rafas blueprint.' :lol: I mean its like Rafa invented defending for your life having little possession and try and counter now and again.

I agree, we defend far too much and allow teams to attack us, but our defence has been very good lately. We’ve got four quality centre halves, best I’ve seen here in 40 years.
But I can honestly say hand on heart, Benitez doesn’t get a mention with anyone I know. I was never a great fan of his. Check my history if you like, not that you’d want to.

It's bizarre you crowing about another Newcastle win. :lol:

fwiw, we were turboshit in the first half and had Southampton been better up top they could and should have been a couple of goals to the good. Carroll's introduction changed things, but we're massively massively lucky to come away from that game with a win.

Not really. I support Jarrow fc were in the northern league. Once again you don’t give credit to Bruce for picking up 3 points. Very bizarre. How many points is he better off now than the same stage last season under rafa? Looks like Bruce is blowing his record out of the water
