Phil Neville - Steve Bruce is a top manager

By my reckoning he's managed 10 fulll seasons in the PL Birmingham, Wigan, us Hull, which has led to two relegations.
That's a decent record

Neville is bound to say crap like that as he is, of course, a very successful manager in his own right. Bruce is a Championship manager and he does have runs when he has more defeats than wins and draws. I don't think he is a top-flight manager at all.

And he’s right. He is.
With hindsight our problems ran a lot deeper (short) but we would have been much better off sticking with Bruce. Even if we had gone down.

possibly but he lost the plot after Bent and Gyan decided to fuck off.....yet again our seeming failure to plan ahead and identify adequate potential replacements let us down

Bruce has 352 wins and 335 defeats as a manager.
Take away cup and championship games and he loses more than he wins, always the sign of a top manager.

I agree, i never wanted to see him sacked at the time but couldnt argue with the decision when he was as we were struggling. That said i like bruce, always have.

He’s a premier league manager, Newcastle played Man City today. Man City And Newcastle both play in the premier league.

Ludicrous to say he is a 'top' manager. Top Managers win things. He is a middle of the road championship manager at best. He has never built a club. His approach is short-termist and cheque book based, and hes still not very good at that.
With his shit team, in a short time, he is drawing with the likes of Man City, beating Tottenham away.......give your head a shake.

Before that he was at Sheff Wed - they are not in the Premier League. He twice led 2 teams to the Premier League - that indicates that he was also manager when they were relegated. Not consistent enough - he is not a Klopp, Guardiola, Mourinho or Wenger is he. Ergo not a Premier League manager.

Yeah, base an argument that hes a top manager on a couple of games against good sides who arent in top form. The latest of which his side have only drawn while conceding 24 shots. Totally disregard, for example, getting turned over by a struggling villa side last week, or being beaten by Norwich. Absolutely ridiculous argument to cherry pick a couple of matches like that. Its you who needs to give your head a shake.
