There certainly are some British people who would have issues of the idea of considering people with significant Irish catholic heritage being British. A significant minority of Rangers fans still don't like having players with significant Irish heritage playing for them, was surprised how commonly held that viewpoint was on some of their forums still. Its a minority, buts certainly not uncommon.

I've come across plenty of people on social media saying they wouldn't consider voting a prime minister with Irish (or muslim any other foreign) parentage incase of split loyalities and in the case of 2nd generation Irish people there's an assumption with some that they are automatically have Irish nationalist/IRA sympathies or hate the British army.

Rebecca Long-Bailey is of Irish parentage, will be interesting to see how the red tops go after her, questioning her allegiancies and loyalties should she become the next Labour leader.

I don't care if it's seen as draconian tbh. I think people found guilty of such crimes should have their heads chopped off and their victim's families should be allowed to play football with their heads!

I agree dont tar all muslims. But normal muslims are getting threw under the bus a bit because no one will challenge the extremists in their religion. Everytime someone says something negative about islam they are called islamophobic and racist.

This helps nobody because non muslims then take issue with any muslim and the religion has a whole.

You cant keep saying but what about right wingers, islamophobia, brits in spain, china killing muslims everytime some islamist kills someone. Its excusing what is quite clearly the main problem is in this country.

There is right wing terrorism in this country, the last standing MP to be murdered was by right wing terrorists.

if you look at all the terrorism over the last 50 years, the overwhelming majority isn’t linked to Islam.

recently it has increased but the reporting in this country is very biased. Pretty much every Muslim I know hate the violence as much as we do, but we never hear that.

by targeting Muslims you‘re playing straight into the terrorists hands.
