Forthcoming gigs.

What did you think?

Loved the bit when the guitarist played the Emmerdale theme (yes you had to be there!)

Great sound, atmosphere and humour
A great, great show, I didn’t hear the Emmerdale bit though?!
i also enjoyed one of the support acts, All Them Witches(?)
its a really good arena too

Normally go to the Deershed Festival but we said we wouldn't go next year as we were supposed to be going to Florida (got cancelled due to Thomas Cook and we haven't booked anything else yet). Yesterday they go and announce The Twilight Sad, Stereolab, Snapped Ankles and Kate Tempest. I really want to go so I'm try to talk the family round and go to Florida the year after

I saw the Brothers Landreth at the beautifully restored Islington Assembly Rooms earlier this month, which was quite emotional. Next up is Paul Lamb at the 100 club, then Tedeschi Trucks at Wembley and Beth Hart at Hammersmith a few days later. Plus my usual Open Mic nights, Jazz Club and Singer's Sessions.
A week without live music is much too long .

I saw The Christians some years ago, a band I loved. I wasn’t impressed with the vocals tbh. Tonight I’ve been looking up some recent reviews and they get good reviews. So I thought I’ll see if they are touring, they are only on at The Cluny tonight.( started 8 minutes ago)
Wished I’d looked them up last night.

Are you cross?

I saw that, good line up. Baxter Dury playing also.

Another one booked. Toy, Just got into them this last week, then find out they’re playing independent Sunderland in Jan, toppa.

class. I remember enjoying the album when it cane out start of year but then for some reason didn’t go back to it. Listening again now and it’s superb.
gonna dirt tickets for that now. Naively i only check out Newcastle venues so glad you posted that. Last gig I saw in Sunderland was Public service Broadcasting at pop records which I remember being the day over the Easter weekend Sunderland won at Chelsea !!

Honestly, it’s the first band of note I’ll have seen in Sunderland since ms and the daintees. Well, aside from the SOL stuff...Not surprised you never checked, live music graveyard is Sunderland :)

pop recs, manor quay and the stadium of light are only venues I’ve been to in Sunderland. Hopefully the new place near fire station attracts a few more.

EDIT. Saw the Kinks at the Empire when I was a young lad !

Easter Saturday. I saw Sunderland win at Chelsea then I went to Shepherds Bush Epire to see The Men They Couldn't Hang's 30th anniversary gig.

As we're now in 2018, what gigs have people lined up this year ? For me I've

Wrangler / lone lady at Lexington London
Michael Rother ( Neu ) Jazz Cafe London
Hookworms at the Cluny
Arcade Fire at Manc Arena
LCD Soundsystem/ Yeah Yeah Yeahs London

Can't wait.

Hot snakes and shellac in December

Amy Studt at the Surf Cafe Bar in Tynemouth on Monday. Vastly deeper darker music than she made her name with. Curious about the venue as well.

Hope it’s a good turnout, mind. They’re not your archetypal type of band that people from Sunderland will go and watch. And it’s always hit and miss when touring bands play there.

Went to see them at the Riverside a few years ago when they were touring the album they had out at that time, and the turnout was really poor. Although I’ve seen them at The Cluny before and it was packed out.

The Bluetones down in Boro tomorrow night.
Saw them in Manchester last night, didn't realise they were doing the gig in two parts, played Science and Nature from start to finish, second half of the set went down much better. Even had a lass on someone's shoulders showing her bra, Mark Morriss didn't know where to look
