Can someone please look up the stats of Broads test batting over time? He’s got worse of course, but he still averages nearly 20. And got at least one decent score in the Ashes
people have this weird blind spot for Leach. He’s a 10 at best

Cult hero status. But he has grit that most lower order batsman dont have.
He so far has occupied the crease to allow the other end the chance to add on 50 on his own.
Broad at one point looked a genuine all rounder. Still handy for a quick 20 though

Legend for his numerous match winning bowling spells. Not his ton.
Was a pitch similar to the one Jimmy scored his 81 on.

He does. And I really like the man. Weirdly his test match batting is better than his county batting. After he got hit by Morkel, he averaged something like 3 for a full year (and then the Ireland test happened)

Broad I have sympathy for. He got a horrific injury, the psychology of that is immensely difficult.

He does. But he has only played 17 innings, and virtually half of his runs came in that Ireland innings.
Would be great to see him maintain it, but it’s not likely

It was 169, which is a bit more than a ton. How many regular 9-11 batsmen have ever scored that? Of course he's famous for it ffs.

An hour ago I didn't expect us to be still batting after lunch, so well done Buttler and Leach.
The farming of the strike has been odd mind. Leach looks comfortable, and despite turning down runs Buttler has faced fewer balls in the partnership

Commentators shocked he's number 11 cos he scored a century nearly a decade ago. Not relevant anymore, I was a child then!! Like someone referring speaking about me in shock I am no longer 17.
My memory of that game is one of match fixing a flat pitch and Pakistan giving up while him and Trott put on like 400 together.
Leach yet again raising his ability at the highest level. Application talented batsmen cross the world should envy.

Looks like they're trying (and succeeding) to confuse the opposition mate.
Tbf I think they've only tried to farm it the closer it got to lunch. Bit of a psychological thing like lots of things in cricket.
