With Denly next you should normally get Root, Stokes, Buttler etc coming in against an old ball.

it’s almost like opening the batting is not about slapping it everywhere

I remember arguing at length against Curran being selected on flat pitches such as OT but he should be tailor made for this.

Don't know like, it looks pretty docile to me.

Yeah, it looks pretty flat but hopefully the difference for us compared to when Curran has played on flat pitches before is we have something out of the ordinary in Archer. Hopefully this allows bowlers like Curran to keep it tight and maybe get a little bit of movement or swing that can cause problems.

Looks a great venue. I do prefer it when grounds have the option of seats and a grass bank though. Too much grass bank at that one.

Only 4 home ones and four away ones for each country are. The others are "friendlies".

Exactly. You are not going to win a test match in the first session as we seem to have tried to while batting many times in the last few years. You can lose the test match in the first session though.

The extra runs you lose through a slower scoring rate will easily be made up and more by this England middle order when the ball gets older as long as you don't put them under pressure due to losing too many wickets too quickly.
