We haven't even a joint account, I hoy a canny bit in savings pots, fill the cars up when needed and pay the mortgage, she pays the bills and nursery costs - works for us and leaves about 800quid each to piss up a wall

I'm a fan of a spreadsheet ( I bet that amazes you) but it's mainly required if things are tighter. If you're earning loads then it is less important.

That’s fine if you know you’ve always got spare for unexpected things. I run the spreadsheet each month to see how many beer vouchers I have left over, as the margins are tight. What if 2k is all you earn?

We're lucky to have about 5 or 6 hundred between us. And that's on a good month.

Depends what you want to do mate. You don’t have to blow at heap of money to make yourself happy.

We do like our holidays - we tend to put a lot of money away so we can get abroad two or three times a year.

Theres loads of factors like having kids & houses.

Some people might be happy in a 2 bed terrace having loads of spare cash whilst others prefer having less spare cash but living in a 4 bed detached for example
