A fair point. And it was the same when the Craig Hope story came out RE club finances last season too. I said at the time, we should be thankful that he was doing his job. Sections of our support rounded on him in wholehearted, almost cult-like support for the chairman and his associates
Martin Hardy in The Times that if there wasn’t an injection of money by Christmas then there was an issue . That was ridiculed too
One thing that is worth noting is that, as part of the arrangement to cancel the share premium and reduce the share capital, the directors had to file a "declaration of solvency" . This is a legal requirement. They have to declare that the company that there are no grounds under which the company would be unable to pay its debts as they fall due and that the company will be able to pay its debts for at least a year following the declaration. If we did become insolvent during that period, all of the directors would be guilty of some fairly serious offences. It's not the kind of declaration to play silly buggers with. I'd take a fair degree of reassurance from that.
But could that mean something as simple as because of the injection of capital we can now trade for the rest of the year ?

Till this time next year at least. 12 months from the date of the declaration. There's no way of knowing until we see more up to date information.

It will be to July this year. It's better than anything we have already, and give a good indication of how close we are getting to stability.

Really appreciate your analysis of the finances. Understand you can't maybe take a leap of faith and say what you instincts are telling you.

To be fair unless I've missed something in the thread the fact that we aren't going to be insolvent in the next year is hardly much of a comfort, I'd expect that. More concerning is the random, and as far as I can tell fairly unnecessary, secrecy. Getting people like this involved should be a big boost for the fans and a reason to actually be optimistic, instead it's all "we're saying nowt" and we can fix a speaker system. I get that we don't want people putting prices of players up, but this must be more than that, it's a massive dampening of expectations/ cloak of secrecy. I can only see the investment as a positive, but the PR around it is baffling and it will naturally get people worried

It has fuck all to do with putting the price of players up tbf.

bet they couldn't believe the season ticket numbers last and this season
CM had a pop at his fans while praising the part time Charlton fans who turned up for the play off final and many of which probably haven't been back since. And SD who basked in the 'love' of many but now would rather avoid genuinely concerned fans (while using the abuse card which most know aren't f***ing proper fans) It's the fact that so many continue to support this proud club that means these fuckers are hanging on

The one certainty is that it's in no-one's interests, including the owners, for the club not to succeed. It was always going to nigh on impossible to fix the money side and the football side simultaneously - the mess was just too big. I think they underestimated the problems and the difficulties, and, as a result, led the fans down the same route. Any manager will tell you that it's best to underpromise and overdeliver. The message on day one should have been that getting things back to where they need to be was going to be a long, slow job. I think, right now, we're at the bottom. The negativity is results driven as much as anything else. Though it seems highly unlikely right now, if we were to go unbeaten between now and the end of the year, much of the criticism would go away. Not all, for sure - there's a sizeable body will never be convinced.

Are you happy with the current situation?

Of course I'd be happier if we were top of the league or in a higher division. That should go without saying.

Just because we're not, doesn't mean I'm going to act like a spoilt child who got the wrong toy for Christmas.

The stuff on this thread, man. I've never seen such a collection of entitled children.

Looks like some of them are on the verge of holding a public mock funeral for the club, getting their bedsheets out and writing "boycoutt" on them, and punching horses.

Sure we're in a less-than-ideal place but don't be bad losers, have some dignity and grace under pressure.

Threads full of bile aimed at the owners will not help matters. If anything it's more likely to demotivate them and push potential investors away. Why the hell would new investors want to get involved with a club that has so many wailing fannies complaining about every word out of the owners' mouths?

We wouldn’t need to build from scratch if they didn’t strip everything back...

I stated this on another thread, Get rid of the scouts we need to cut costs, lets get some scouts we need some decent players, what the fuck is going on. And if its true they sacked scouts because they were fiddling expenses, who the fuck employed them in the first place?
Theres cuts that rightly had to be made. There are things that should have been a priority, from day one of their ownership, and scouting imo was a priority. If they'd bothered to getting good scouting in place we may not have wasted 2 transfer windows on utter shit.

January will be interesting, I would probably shit myself if we brought in a young promising player in the first week, I am waiting for the old gadgie to be wheeled in around the 28th

Just accept shite and back them. Iirc if you show concern at the utter shit show that is SAFC then it's magesque behaviour.

Nothing wrong with "concern" it's the ridiculous levels of vitriol at the most innocuous press releases that's magesque.

The vitriol is probably long over due. We've sat back and accepted shite for years. Maybe it's what's needed? Backing them blindly certainly hasn't worked.

We're a f***ing mess.

What should have been an exciting time for us, new investment and a new manager has turned into a massive damp squib. Blokes I wouldn't trust to throw a piss up in a brewery in charge of the new 'investment'. A chance to change the direction of the playing side and what wad the answer? Phil f***ing Parkinson. A nice fella nee doubt but a dull uninspiring manager whose sides aren't exactly great to watch.

We hear of the investment and there's talk of speaker systems and lifts being fixed!!!!!!!
