2020 Local Cricket Rumours & Transfers

So now we have a proper pyramid system in the north east. Northumberland and Durham each having a 5/6 division structure with a feed in to the NEPL.

Far too sensible and long awaited. Stops the clubs who cant quite get 2 teams out at a weekend being made to resign or fold and allow them to find their proper position in the system.

Keith Bailey
Castle Eden to Sunderland

For money? Nice lad Keith, good footballer too. Be interested to know if he was getting any money at Castle Eden.

For no reason other than to better understand the motives behind the lad’s move.

came a bit late for some clubs and the old committee were very resistant to making accommodations. Hopefully the new structure saves some clubs.

Apart from the pro, nobody at the Eden gets any money last year
I presume he must be getting paid something at Sunderland

I think you may be wrong there mind. I know that there’s other players on money other than pro for a fact.

Either way, Eden a great club, Keith a great lad who I’m sure will be missed but will have his own reasons for moving on, money related or not.

Aye, fair enough like. Just always interested to hear of the inner workings of local cricket clubs.

He'll be getting some money I suspect as it gets spread out a bit more at Sunderland than it has in the past.

Bailey and Allan have come in at Sunderland as mentioned, but also three left.

Wow baffled by all these divisions.

How come certain teams from dcl are so far down the pyramid?

From what I see, all DCL 1st teams are in Divisions 1 and 2, so no change there. Langley Park were relegated from the "old" DCL.
The only DCL teams in Divisions 3-6 are 2nd teams, and will play against NEDL 1st teams and 2nd teams.
Looks very sensible and organised to me.

So an example is Langely park seconds finished in bottom half of DCL 4, so they enter division 6. With teams like Tantobie who finished in the bottom half of NEDCL 2.

The best way to do it. Should provide 6 competitive leagues for lads/teams of all abilities. Hopefully no rediculously one sided games such as has been seen more and more the past few year.
Its the best format for everyone and means clubs can stay alive should they have a bit of a bad patch but also improve at all levels. There will be still some one sided games such as in Div 4 but after a season or two it should be competative top to bottom and there is less of a chance of clubs winning the league year after year too and monopolising leagues
