Ainsworth - Formal approach

I mean his wycombe side have scored the joint 3rd most goals in the league level with ipswich. They can't be that boring.

I'd give him a chance as he's done well with very limited resources at wycombe a team with no reserves and no academy.

There was a quote somewhere yesterday that we’d already spoken with Stendel before Ainsworth. Who knows there’s so much misinformation flying about and it’s small scale compared to the takeover thread !

Unless there’s a name which has gone completely under the radar I’d say it’s between Ainsworth, Cook and Stendel.

Cook would seem to be the safest choice given his record at L1 level, he’d hopefully get the best out of Grigg and as his contract is up this summer presumably compensation wouldn’t be too steep.

Stendel is maybe the most exciting choice but how much evidence is there to back up his credentials?

Ainsworth has experience but managing Sunderland compared to his current club is a vastly different challenge.
Sensible post (which is a rarity at the moment)

The reality is that Stewart Donald is casting the net relatively wide and looking to speak to 5/6 managers. The fact that Wycombe appear to have leaked a "formal approach" for Ainsworth doesn't mean he's going to get the job. It also doesn't mean "everyone else has turned us down". In an idea world, SD could contact 5 clubs, speak to their managers then pick the best candidate without any of it getting out in the press, but that is an impossibility these days. People need to relax, trust the owner and see what happens

I remember the close season when we were rumoured to be (and did end up signing) Lee Burge. 99% on this board didn't want him, believing the stories from Coventry fans that he was "shite" then making assumptions that we were signing him to replace McLaughlin because Donald was hawking him around to the highest bidder. As it turns out, Burge was signed as a no.2 to provide competition to McLaughlin and actually appears to be a decent keeper

The point there is that people on this board latch on to a rumour or a post or a tweet and assume the very worst, then use creative license to create a conspiracy as to why this rumour is terrible but 1005 believable and that someone within the club ins conspiring to do us harm

The owner cant be trusted, text messages etc. Heard it on here.

Coventry has said they rejected a formal approach and because of this the manager has signed a new deal. We are doing everything politely, legally and by the book so I don’t see a problem tbf.
And it’s not like the bloke himself knocked us back, the club did.

Do you blame them? The clubs a fuckin mess

You talk like fans have nothing to moan about

Fuckin hell man

You don’t even believe this yourself I can tell

Yeah he’s not good enough

You’re fuckin deluded

I can’t believe what I’m reading here, some “fans” have absolutely no respect for Sunderland afc

Almost like they are happy to be in this league

He’s totally and utterly unqualified for the job
You don't think I realise people want to moan? People moan about the littlest things though. We are interviewing potential managers, hes doing a good job at wycombe so why wouldn't we talk to him? I wouldn't say the clubs a f***ing mess either. It's not in the league we should be in, and we've struggled to get out of it but off the pitch were in a hell of a better position now than a few year ago.

Ah, but Wimbledon were a tough physical side, you never saw Vinnie Jones rolling around the ground pretending to be injured, they were just tough and intimidating. Iirc they weren't timewasters or cheats.
Remember when we played them twice last season, everytime we had a corner or free kick one or two of their players went down with fake injuries. It was absolutely pathetic and clearly a tactic from the manager. As was their tactic of "roughing up" watmore because they knew he was coming back from a bad injury in the away game, imo.

Tin hat on, but if our manager did that at old Trafford (if we ever get promoted twice) then would we praise him?

well, his first go in league one and Strendel has Barnsley promoted.....canny job done I'd say.

They were also reported by a number of clubs becasue of it. I think one game went to 13 minutes injury time last month.
