British Steel Corporation, Hartlepool (South Durham, Works)
Started in 1979, a couple of months after leaving school.
Was there from the age of 16 to 26.
It was long shifts and hard graft, but I loved it there, and only left, because of compulsory redundancy.

Dewhurst factory in Hendon.

Young warehouse lad at 16,and got my eyes well opened.
Fanny everywhere and none stop bucking for years.
Take me back to the early 90s.
I worked opposite there at Vedrapack Printers and we used to watch the yellow flange walk by as we ate our bait at dinner time.
I remember a few of the lads once taped a little gobshite who had just started and winding them up like fuck, to the fence naked and the lasses had fun laughing and pointing at his cock.

Is that the pipe mill?
There were a few different mills, mate.
I worked in No.4 Plate Mill, but eventually ended up in one of the pipe mills, towards the end of my time there.

Electrosil on Pallion Trading Estate. Hated it and glad when they gave me the boot when I finished my apprenticeship.

Bootham engineers York at age 16 . Shite, had to leave the house 6.30 on a morning, 4 miles on a push bike to get a van to Scarborough to a training school, reverse it to get home at 6.30 pm.

A secretarial role / YTS at Washington Graphics that I started in 1993 - loved it, nice folks but the company only lasted a few years after. I then started work at the Child Benefit centre which was absolute hell from the training and beyond.
