Wow. So I have given my inter
Firstly, fuck off, again.

The reason is incredibly wealthy people are often egotists. When you have that much money what do you do. Apparently they looked at a lot of clubs and probably thought we were value and have bottomed out. There could be any number of reasons but yanks especially love a bit of history and sentimentality. After all they have none. Like it or not, historically Sunderland are still a massive club. Show me s football club with our history you could buy for as little as they will have?
Language please. No body has a crystal ball. Even if they are buying the club with their personal funds as I now concede, having read the posts they may well sell up for a modest profit in he future.

A billionaire who wants to make a return on his investment. He's already said his end goal is TV rights in the Premier League, but that he won't risk overspending to get there. He's also not putting money into the local community, just building up the club in the way he wants.

True, but how many of them dont want a quick return on their money, and how many invested into the community? If the Dells' wanted to make a return on their investment, which is only really possible in the Premier League, there are plenty of clubs higher up the food chain they could have gone for.

Bolton and Blackpool, who I'm sure they could have bought if they've been looking for more than a month and would arguably have been even better stories. And, if they're looking to splash the cash, they could probably have bought one of the top Premier League clubs and pocketed the TV money for a few years instead of building from the ground up.

And, to be clear, I'm not saying the stories are wrong - as pointed out above, Eisner has done similar with Portsmouth, however it doesn't make sense on any fundamental business level for them to regenerate the area along with being custodians of the club.

Just because we're getting a theme park and you're not.

Just have a look at his/her history, they clearly aren't a mag or journalist (well they could be i guess), just someone who got something wrong, like the majority of us have.

Feel sorry for the poster being attacked in such way from too many posters on here for nowt really.
Sorry looking at previous posts your probably right. I'm just suspicious of new posters popping up all of a sudden especially after what Reiever said about journalists hating forums

A newish 49,000 seater stadium with the option of expansion to 63,000 surrounded by land prime for development and a UEFA five star certified training facility.

Nah our infrastructure is f***ing shit
The infrastructure and the fans are the best thing about the club. Some people like to moan for the sake of it.

“His barmpot supposition”? To whom are you referring? I hope it was neither GOM, nor Reiver who most would hold as 2 of the most respected and informative posters on this forum. Ok Reiver is banned at present but GOM’s “supposition”, he posts detailed financial analysis in layman’s language for all to understand and comment upon and maintains strict standards with regard to opinionated based posts.
@Reiver marra. I don't distrust the bloke (even if he's convinced I do), he's just a bit excitable I think and gets carried away.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find somebody that doesn't respect @Grumpy Old Man's input on here, least of all me.

That's a possibility of course. But from what Reiver's been told, that's far from their primary objective.

People will then have a load of questions about the details of the deal. And if there's a press conference with the announcement, all kinds of interpretation about what their plans may or not be. Completion's likely to raise as many questions, if not more, because we'll then be dealing with something concrete, rather than trying to find out/work out what's going on.
They'll be plenty of other posters who can answer questions, if everyone is looking at the same information, rather than knowing more then what is being made public. Just a shame Riv and yourself will just miss out on those discussions.

Don’t be under any illusions, this is an investment with an expected long term return. I also suspect that they can see real estate opportunities in the surrounding area......

It wouldn’t surprise me if there are grants and incentives available.

They will have a plan, but with so many incredibly rich people involved, the risk is shared and therefore relatively low for people of their wealth.

It is basically a clean canvas with all the infrastructure in place.

Aye....Sunlun could be the new Singapore, hotels with rooftop infinity pools, Bay area, Four floors of.....

It made sense for Eisner to get involved in your club though.
None of us, including you can know at this time what their plans are, or what financial advantages may be available to them to regenerate the land around the stadium. I would suggest they have a long term plan that will provide them with a return on their investment. Just as Eisner has with your club, whether this involves the land around the ground remains to be seen. Just out of interest, how much of the land around Fratton park is actually owned by the club? Is there scope for regeneration? Would it be possible to either upgrade your ground or facilities or would that need you to move, apologies if we’ve discussed this before as I recall having a similar conversation but I can’t remember if it was with you or not.

Aye fair enough - I was thinking more along the lines of the internal organisation of the club.
