How does that work?

Well, rough figures but if you're already pulling in a crowd of say 50k and expanding the stadium by 10k is going to cost you £10m (if you're lucky and Sir Bob built you an expandable stadium rather than have to rebuild completely). Unless you're already killing it at the top of the league, you use that capacity about half the time and need the tickets to be quite competitively priced to do it. That's maybe £2m a year additional revenue.

That £10m could have been invested in business development deals that dwarf that kind of revenue. With a bit of a top up of the wage and transfer budget thrown in. You could be making £5m a year more on sponsorship and other business deals, and making £5m a year just for finishing 3 league positions higher than you did before, and £8m for getting 5 more live games on the sports channels than you did before. And the stadium's already full.

Really cant get my head round all this stick for donald, when he came in the club as a whole was catastrophically unsustainable with more people employed than the mags as an example, yet little over a year later the club is close to breaking even, he appointed a manager who was known for having his teams score goals for fun, he immediately started to reconnect the club and the fans again and since then has looked to expand the fan base around the world. He provided his staff with the biggest budget in this leagues history, even without grigg there were still decent fees paid for the likes of o’nien in terms of league one fees. Granted there were several frees signed however i think most have already proven themselves to be up it. I personally believe this squad that was assembled is more than capable of getting promoted if they play consistently at levels which theyve shown in some games to be capable of. Donald has taken a club that was on its knees and turned it around to a point where these very rich individuals feel they want to invest their money into it, and they still feel donald is the man they want running the show. Granted there is still things he has got wrong but he’ll be the first to admit to them but on the whole i feel like hes doing a very good job to me
Absolutely correct summary. It's truly baffling that some people can't comprehend the above. The Rat thinks he's been a 'disaster' ffs

Last I heard, they were trying to get everyone in the same room at the same time sometime this week. That's probably harder to organise than most people think. Today or tomorrow are distinctly possible though.
At the end of the day it doesn’t really matter when it’s announced cos it’s happening!

Did reiver ever tell you what the kick in the teeth was by the way?

The kick in the teeth I suspect is that they were going to by the Mergs...now that would be a kick, not only in the teeth but in the bollocks and up the arse 🤣

The SoL is an amazing venue, but as with a lot to do with SAFC & the city its self. It's on our psyche to play it down.

If these lot are serious about providing a lasting legacy (as Sir Bob has) then making it a venue for various sports e.g NFL / concerts and developing the area surrounding it (after expansion) would make sense... that would generate more sponsorship revenue.

I doubt it would be about doing to sell out in league one, and hopefully they have much bigger plans.

No one said we could fill 42k from Roker (we did) and for a time 48k+ give us a team on the pitch to challenge Top 6 in England and we'd fill 60k+ easily... history tells us that.
Spot on.

We were averaging less than 20,000 when sir Bob proposed the 42,000 SOL. If he had listened to some people on here we should have just stayed at Roker Park.

The fact that the SOL can easily go to 65,000 has undoubtedly been a factor in this deal.

Lets build it and get kids in for next to nowt and we will reclaim our heartlands we lost to the mags in the 90s as well as building our support for decades to come. We will make money on catering contracts and merchandise.

We had 46,000 at a Div 3 game last year that shows the potential.

Thankfully Im sure the Dell lads have vision thats why they make money not like some miserable feckers on here.

Can I assume that when the announcement is made, you’ll simultaneously reveal what we’ve all been waiting for and let us know what you’re wearing?

Indications. If/when it all comes out, Newcastle will look like Chernobyl.

Thats public record and I think Reiver said it was even better than that! the mind boggles!

I do think with the sensitivity of this information, the 'reveal' is a job best left to the SAFC PR people, failing that @Reiver on his Coronation Day ;)
