What’s the worst place you’ve ever been to?

Off the beaten track in New Orleans is genuine 3rd world existence. There's nothing in this country compares to that. It was sad in some respects but dangerous at the same time. I got there about 5 in the morning and it reminded me of '80s documentaries on New York with the addition of shanty towns up the back streets. It's the only place I've ever been that I've thought I need to get to my hotel quickly or I'm going to be in serious bother. Well, there and Istanbul.

Algeciras in Spain.
We were based in Gibraltar, and went to Algeciras (around 14 miles away) for a pre season friendly against Sunderland, some years ago. ☹️

Yeah, I found parts of southern USA shocking for the poverty levels. Very third world. New Orleans has definitely some of that

I’ve been watching a lot of banged up abroad lately and got me thinking where is the worst place I’ve visited. I’ve not been too far a field but I went to Tunis a few years back, absolute dive and completely overridden with flies and just had a really eerie vibe
Guinea Bissau, never quite got in as the head of the army decapitated the president the day before we were due to go in. How the fuck robson green went fishing there is beyond me. @Jon Dough have you fished here?

Hurghada is a f***ing shithole Cat.
Roadsides strewn with bags of shite/rubbish - hotels we were in were shockingly bad.
I stayed by the marina, right on a private beach and in the apartment complex there was a hammam and a wine bar and on the corner a brilliant cafe. 🤷🏻‍♀️ it was perfect for a relaxing break.

Oh that place is a shit hole. Went through there when I went to Marrakech by train and got the ferry there to Algiers.
Blackhall and other nearby deliverance resembling hellholes
I used to love going to Blackhall too. Great beach there. They filmed the man who fell to earth on it.
