Ross’s fault

Feel a bit sorry for McGeady tbh. There's no other game plan other than to get the ball to McGeady and hope he can do something with it...

What's a little more surprising is that we played this exact same tactic last season and when McGeady broke his foot we looked like a horse ready for the glue factory...yet here we are, using the same tactics again for a 2nd season In a row.

As much as I wish he was doing better, Roos is totally at fault.

This is the biggest issue I have, nothing has changed from last season lessons have not been learned. When there was all the talk of Maddison a lot of people would say 'we have McGeady we don't need him'. Why on earth would you settle for one creative player in the entire squad, it is absurd. Some of it comes back to the article around this time last year about expected goals and how poor we were on that front, well nothing has changed so everyone can see what is going to happen as the season goes on.

Is Ross getting the players he wants or the players Hill/Coton want - genuinely don't know.

I have a lot of sympathy for him for the situation / circumstances he has to work under and clearly our missed chances contributed to us not winning the game but I’m struggling with two major things that are Ross things.
1 The standard disorganised concession of at least one goal ... that cost us promotion last year and hasn’t changed and this is his problem to solve
2 The failure to have an effective ‘1 goal up’ game plan. Everyone in the ground except him can see that if he gets this right we go up. It is exactly now though what it always was.
He isn’t the worst manager ever- that’s bollocks - hd has had to sign ‘frees and cheaps and save us money’ signings so hadn’t had the easiest of times but he is looking like he is struggling with the knowledge and ability to address our key weaknesses.

Sorry mate but that's absolute f***ing bollocks. We've outspent every other club and massively so since we were relegated. Most teams at this level have freebies only with the odd 50/60k signing thrown in. That's like trying to claim Man City haven't spent much in the top flight

So - I said most of our players were frees , cheaps and save us money players. You think that’s bollocks. Ok then.
So you’ll probably say Grigg - replacement for Maja
Wyke
I’d still say most are frees and cheaps.

Despite that, I still think It’s his defensive systems and strategies that cost us games- I’m just saying he’s had to manage a club downsizing on a massive scale. There’s a balance to everything which some on here don’t have.

What a surprise that the op is trying to spin this again, I get being positive but I'm sure you're on a wind up now

We didn't do it on the cheap, in this league we spent a fortune no matter how you try and dress it up

That McGeady hit one of he worst penalties I have ever seen......This place man, it’s pathetic
Every game we create or score goals.
It's because we have, imo, the best squad in the division and can play some great stuff.
However we rarely play better than the opposition.
Just because we miss a sitter (or a pen) doesn't mean that the scoreline isn't right, or that we didn't play atrocious for the majority of the match.
Since JR joined, the reason why we do well is because of our keeper, and because we have class players for league one and take a lot of our limited chances.
However, we have class players for league one, but they are getting outplayed for the majority of lots of matches.

Last night we were 2nd best for the majority of the game.
We've played 8 games and been very poor in half. (Oxford, Ipswich, posh and Rotherham).
Rochdale shouldnt have lost to us either, the amount of chances they had at the end. If they were able to get a striker like mcnulty grigg or Wyke, we wouldn't have won that.

We didn't lose much last Yr. We won't lose much this Yr. Anyone of us could manage that bunch of players and get them not to lose a lot in league 1.
Its the way we play. We should be enjoying ourselves. It's f***ing shit to watch.
And saying if we'd have scored a pen and won 2 1 I'd be happy, no. I'd be happier, but it wouldn't paper over the fact we are shit.

I was OK last week 3 1 v Accrington f***ing Stanley. But they bossed us the 2nd half. We should have been cruising.
The players have no confidence in how they should play, thats the managers fault.

We were bossed by Rochdale too. Only real good performances are against Pompey and Wimbledon. Both sides are at the bottom of the table. Then obviously Burnley in the league cup.

We need to be better than last year to go up. To me we seem to be worse. Ross's big plan and the key to improve was clean sheets - he said we needed 20 clean sheets this season to go up. Anything other than top 2 is utter failure. If you don't think the manager is key to the performance of a team fair enough but at the moment it looks very much like we are going to have a worse season than last season. Can you explain why you think we are going to have a big improvement from last year?

I agree, of course we have.
We're not going to spend millions, we shouldn't have to (though we did on grigg), we get players on loan or end of contracts desperate to join us and we can afford the wages.
We have the best squad in this league by a long way.

Mcnulty was in the championship last season, he wouldn't have joined Rotherham on loan.

Last Yr we had catts, oviedo, Maja, leadbitter, McGeady who all have played and should be playing above league one.
We spent 4 mill on a striker.

We can pick and choose our players.
Mcgeoch and mcghlaughlin joining from hibs and hearts to league one. They wouldn't have left the Scottish prem for another league 1 side.

We have an expensive squad for league one and should be out playing teams in most matches.

I’m sick of hearing him talk about clean sheets. If you keep drumming it into your players that we need to keep clean sheets the natural reaction is to drop deeper and get more and more defensive. We need to be better on the ball and create more chances for our forward players.

We’ve got a bang average league one defence and a very, very strong attack for league one. Let’s play to our f***ing strengths instead of relying on defenders like McLaughlin.

No matter how you dress it up spend wise we were downsizing at a prolific rate. I think you’ll find we saved a fortune.

You won’t find a manager in any league not wanting clean sheets.

Simple thing is we need to be better than last year to the tune of 6-10 points. I cannot see any improvement and don't expect the OP suggesting any reasons to believe we will improve. Ross identified clean sheets as the key to achieving the improvement as is utterly failing - he should be challenged on this. I believe there are managers out there who could get more out of these players. 70 odd games in suggests that Ross cannot get anymore out of these players. The OP blaming McGeady's penalty shows how superficial his analysis is.

That’s not what I’m saying. The focus on that end of the pitch will naturally cause us to drop deeper and take a defensive mindset. If you can control games on the ball and cause problems at the other end the clean sheets will look after themselves. Right now we’re inviting teams at us because we’re sitting trying to protect a lead and we haven’t got the players to do it hence the myriad of 1-1s

Get beat on sat and he’s gone IMO ... once you start to have digs at the fans the outcome is inevitable
