Stokes Family Abused

How do you know anything about it? Why didn't you just ignore the headline?

People are more complicit in the way our media operates than they like to let on.

I know about it because I saw someone share a picture of the disgusting front page on twitter. In the comments of that were people saying it’s from 1988, I haven’t read the ‘story’ because I think it’s disgusting and quite frankly, not newsworthy.

If this happened yesterday, today, tomorrow, then yes, absolutely. But they’re digging up a story just 2 days after one of the greatest summers of cricket this country has ever seen has ended, invading the privacy of the hero of the summer and harassing his family thousands of miles away and for what? Click bait?

It’s simply not relevant or newsworthy, and I feel sorry for anyone who thinks that it is. If Ben Stokes has not just had the summer he has, this story wouldn’t be printed. The press in this country can’t wait to pull our stars apart. These wankers at the sun were lauding him up as Sir Ben a few weeks ago. Now they run this shite on him and his family.

Fuck them, and fuck anyone who thinks they’re right to publish shit like this

The Sun response on BBC website

"A spokesperson for the Sun said: "The Sun has the utmost sympathy for Ben Stokes and his mother but it is only right to point out the story was told with the co-operation of a family member who supplied details, provided photographs and posed for pictures.
"The tragedy is also a matter of public record and was the subject of extensive front page publicity in New Zealand at the time.
"The Sun has huge admiration for Ben Stokes and we were delighted to celebrate his sporting heroics this summer. He was contacted prior to publication and at no stage did he or his representatives ask us not to publish the story."

but the Sun could simply not publish the article, therefore everyone would be non the wiser. you can't stop the natural instincts of humans, but you can stop being an utter c*nt and publishing things like this

does that go for all Sun articles? can we add the Daily Mail to that ? no good whatsoever comes from either of those Tory mouthpieces, but a lot of damage does

Blanket media censorship isn’t the way forward in a free society.

what a load of bollocks.

'the sun has sympathy for ben stokes' - so why publish this story?

'co-operation of a family member' - tricked or paid a long lost cousin for a snippet of info

'he was contacted and didn't ask us not to publish' - i didn't ask not be punched in the face doesn't mean that i wanted to be punched in the face

Exactly. I dont know the connection of family member as havent read story but i suspect they will be already distant and needing a bit of cash.

What is worse is that they were contacting him about it. What were they expecting him to say if he answered phone?

i'm not suggesting blanket censorship. just those two, due to the extensive damage they cause to society. they shouldn't be classed as 'media' anyway. they bring nothing to the table of debate or free thought

As I suspected she’s made a few quid the woman featured in the article.

Dangerous game wanting to shut down the media because it’s not your cup of tea. If I simply don’t like a papers opinions or stories I won’t read it.

saw it break last night, I knew Stokes would do this and have nout to do with it

good man, his response says everythin you need to know about him
What the fuck did them absolute scumbags have to earn by posting about that?

Im not stokes biggest fan but thats f***ing ridiculous bringing that up. Just screams of trying to bring someone down whilst hes at the top for a reason. Absolute rats

its got nothing to do with my opinions, its simply a case of morals. debate is healthy. having free press from all angles of the political compass is always necessary, but the Sun and the Mail aren't free press. it is hatred filled arm of government propoganda aimed at dividing people and spreading intolerance.

also, i'm only suggesting that RTG ban posters from putting links up to their sites.

You’re trying to be too clever

It’s not news at all

This, trying to find an angle, type of thing I'd do when being a twat

Worked in the industry and can say this is absolutely not newsworthy. Opportunist shite

Its also incredlby thick, Stokes is hot property now, one of the most popular sportsman in the country and will be for the rest of his career, they've now just alienated him

I suspect whoever dedcied t run with that story will be getting a call from their boss

I see intolerance of people’s opinions in most of the media these days tbh. Whichever side of the political spectrum you come from.
