Men in general are terrified of going to the doctors and especially getting themselves checked out. Him coming out with hiv will shock a few into going to get themselves checked.

Really, how did you come up with this information?

Why would anyone be terrified of going to the doctor, you sure you're not thinking of dentists

one of the very few elite athletes to come out as gay and say he's struggling with mental health issues and hiv. What a wimp.

I didn't say he was a wimp.

Please don't join the queue of people making up things I haven't said or even suggested.

It might make you feel good but it looks a little pathetic tbh.

Yet you choose to participate and give your opinion ...

... just as other people have done.

Are opinions only allowed if they agree with your own or are they all simply dismissed as embarrassing.
Er no. You are just embarrassing with horrendous craic

Please tell us your ideal HIV role model so we know for future

I'm not saying he shouldn't come forward, fair play to him.

I just don't see him as the ideal role model the media appear to want to make him.

He seems to be on the verge of a breakdown at times, it may not be as cathartic for him as people believe ....
... although I'm sure it makes good TV.
Why do you think everyone is arguing with you on this thread marra, is it some kind of coup?

I have a couple of gay pals, and they say for some it's like a badge of honour in the gay community. I can't quite get me head round that one
HIV is a disease not a badge of honour. I would disown your mates marra they sound like bad news.
Why don't you think he represents his cause well (which you've omitted from your bolding)?

It's a bit daft suggesting I would use 'mob law' considering what my reputation is on here. Totally irrelevant too.

Speaking of 'mob law', seems they're starting to turn up in here. I'll let the thread carry on to avoid the inevitable derailment.

... may be doing more harm than good.

He's about to appear on the BBC News with another tearful display claiming he wishes to 'empower people'.

Whatever his cause, whether I believed in it or not, I'd be thinking of distancing myself from him.

The concept that bursting into tears makes someone a hero is really starting to wear a bit thin.
Comment made on the radio was that he had little choice and was being “blackmailed “ that a paper was going to leak the story

Erm you are missing my point, I won't disown my pals for them saying for some people in the gay community see it as a badge of honour. They don't see it as a badge of honour, so why the hell would I disown a couple of my mates for them saying that
I see what you mean now marra thanks for clarifying.

Why do you think everyone is arguing with you on this thread marra, is it some kind of coup?

Everyone?

Not everyone is arguing, many are agreeing with me ... a dozen 'likes' in the OP as an example.

Why do you think people are arguing with me, apart from the fact that some obviously didn't understand the OP or are deliberately misquoting me.

And, no, of course I don't think it's a coup .... have I made any reference to that in any way?
