Takeover Rumours

I don't think that matters here - they would ask 'what's wrong with the club and the city?', 'Is there any reason they can't do a Man City?' 'We'd make these changes, what do you think?'. He can tell them about issues that the PR machine may be burying. I don't think it edges him any closer to a return.

Irrespective of a return can anyone name a better adviser to the new people ...

... the responses will be interesting.
Can I ask, has the deal actually gone through yet?

Yes.

Must admit though, what you like best is open to interpretation, but 4 defeats in the second half of the season, form in the top half, wins against good sides, building a side after a transfer window that actually seemed like the signings had been bought for a purpose and performed well; regardless of how it ended and how the players did without him, he was impressive here.
He was ok end of story, he did no more than the rest of the managers that managed to get the great escape at the end of the season

As I remember it the optimism for the new season was very high, we had momentum and it felt like we were making a break away from the relegation battles, then he left...

Well each to their own i suppose, but under his management we relegated newcastle, that's all that needs saying.
Out of all the years of various captains rearranging the deckchairs on the SAFC Titanic (the slowest sinking ship ever) that was my favourite. I honestly thought he would be able to keep us floating for a year or two. Alas old mother fortune had other ideas. She rubbed her crusty old stinking mott in our faces and he went on to pastures new leaving us with captain dullard and a ticket to Davy Jones locker.

To be honest I’m dubious about having him back, I just remembered he did a proper shit signature in my autograph book circa 1980 the lazy fat bassa....

How strong is this wine be fucked????

I'll be honest, the way he left did leave a sour taste, but that second half of the season we weren't relegation form, we were top half form. Now we are where we are you'd have to be pragmatic; who is likely to be better, the vastly experienced Allardyce who did well here before and has managed England (albeit once), or Jack Ross who we all hope will become good but might not. For me, if we're broke as fuck, we go for someone like Ross and we hope. If we've got money and can afford it we go for someone more like Allardyce. He's obviously a PL standard manager, the only down side is the question marks over his character, but with the likes of Donald and Methven about maybe he couldn't pull the wool over anyone's eyes. I can definitely see why some wouldn't want him mind, but what a statement of intent it would be if we could attract him

It's not "end of story", it depends on your opinion. Allardyce got more points and lost less games after January started then Poyet did, as an example, but on top of that I personally felt he actually put a team together as opposed to getting a freak set of results. The lads he brought in all played their part in keeping us up, very rarely have I actually felt we've got stronger after a transfer window but he did good work. I felt that he lay foundations more than others did who achieved a "great escape". You can disagree, but that doesn't make it "end of story", your opinion isn't factual, it's opinion based

I've every hope that the deal doesn't hit a hitch, but equally I don't expect anything to happen (that we can see) when it does go through- I think assessment and work behind the scenes on structures and marketing, recruitment networks and a wide range of other things will take us to next summer - the playing side will be left alone until then, bar a reasonable transfer window purse perhaps. The new owners are not quick return operators - they invest in distressed assets or at least those with massive potential that are mis-firing (they do this in all areas of their investments), they will be in it for the long-term which is great for us. It won't be back to PL in minimum time and sell before the bubble bursts.

If we are plotting a course for the future of the club under billionaire owners I wouldn't want them being advised by some dodgy hoofball specialist whose claim to fame is keeping clubs up by the skin of their teeth and getting binned one game into his only real top level job in dubious circumstances. His agent mates can stay the fuck out of our club too, they've already had a hand in robbing us once.

Add to that he's both managed and played here which is just as important if the new owners want to get a feel for the fans and the area imo.

All I've ever said is that the new owners have taken advice from an English ex-manager ...

... if anyone can suggest a better option I'm sure they'd be all ears.

It would be a statement of intent in terms of a League One club appointing a big-ish name manager. I would see it as a bit of a lazy, unimaginative appointment though tbh - I'd hope our new owners (the richest in the world apparently) would have more of a long-term vision for the club than Sam f***ing Allardyce. I wouldn't even mind letting Ross have the rest of the season if it gave the new owners some time to plan for the future instead of rushing to appoint the likes of Big Sam.

If you were advising the new owners who would you suggest, serious question.
Has it been officially announced, not heard nowt?

So you ask people on a chat forum, for an answer, then question it when it comes ...

... seriously mate, what's the f***ing point of asking?
