Jofra

Botham needs to stop calling him f***ing joffrey mind. Not bloody game of thrones

Some player mind. Don't think he's ever going to be dull just does what he wants.

Questionable batting and the first innings of old Trafford was odd. Mind the conditions were pretty horrible in his defence.

He is brilliant

Can't blame him I guess as its 3rd test and no way we should be relying on a player in his 3rd test, but he was so bad in the first innings in Manchester, it was vital in the way the Ashes went unfortunately, got a century for no wickets didn't he?

Gonna be a match winner for England for a decade, we just need to figure our how best to use him and compliment him.

I can't just help think what if he was "on it" at Old Trafford

Conditions were dreadful for fast bowling mind

Absolutely aye, as I say, I think he has set unrealistic expectations for himself, he didn't fancy it that innings mind IMO, but that can happen, he is playing his 3rd test.

So much to be positive about with English cricket IMO and Archer is at the front of the queue.

BTW, surely he can bat? averages nearly 30 in FC but looks terrible, I only saw him play live once in county cricket at Durham and he was bad there too.

Not being a dick here but in regards to the test side what is there to be positive about?

We dont have any proven openers. We dont have a number 3/4 depending on where you bat root. Our middle order are all one day players and we dont have a spinner

ODI team is tremendous but the test side is rank average for me

They reckon he’s a brilliant natural batsman

But he probably needs to work out how to play

If that makes sense

The worry is that he will be in demand for the ipl and will lose a bit of the shock value

Loads I think, we are phenomenal at home for a reason, very talented side, just lack quality in the top 3, found one in Burns, need to keep trying players till we find a few others.

Don't agree with any of the rest, Ali bowled Nathan Lyon for the last 12 months before the start of the series, just lost form after a hectic schedule

Aye I get you, just think averaging 30 he'd have an idea of how to construct an innings, I guess he has playing so much short form stuff last 2 years could be just out of touch

Personally i think we are class at home because we have (had) bowlers who know how to utilise english conditions. Teams crumble as soon as it swings. This series has showed England have no plan B amd dont know how to get a side out when conditions arent assisting

When jimmy quits surely peoe like overton arent in line to fill his boots, that would be a travesty

No but Overton is way down the order, quite a lot of bowlers injured remember.

Most teams lose the odd series at home, only India haven't, I think people take it for granted personally

Theres so much talent, a 2-2 would cap off a brilliant year for English cricket, work to do but the talent is there IMO

Its remarkable we win so many games with no top order, Root has won over 50% of his games, imagine what they could do if he had one?

How many of them games are won because we have batted a side out of the game though? People like jimmy and broad blew india away for fuck all last year. We didnt bat particularly well. Curran saved our skin many times

So? Why doesn't that count?

We have exciting cricketers who win games, and are balanced by the best all rounder in the world at 6

also Ali bowled India out on a flat one in Southampton too, no spinner?

It does. I havent said it doesnt.

Youre saying theres lots to be positive about. Ive basically said i think our batsmen are very ordinary and our bowlers bail us out most the time. Didnt say it doesnt matter. However anderson womt be around for long and broad is getting on. We will be lucky to ever see another bowler like anderson. I think england are on the wain in tests. Not getting better
