Takeover Rumours

Let's be honest here, it's obviously not a "done deal" yet. Not if the lawyers etc are still haggling.
Mind, I'm an eternal optimist when it comes to on the pitch, and a pessimist to off the field stuff.

If this goes through the mags will be f***ing desperate to get to league one in the hopes of the same happening to them! It's an actual thing though, big clubs in the prem are bloody expensive and returns are probably limited unless you can get them top 4. Get a club in this league with the infrastructure already in place and, if you're confident you can get them back where they belong, it's a better opportunity when buying for a rock bottom price. Getting to be owner of Sunderland AFC for £40m man, at a time when clubs are paying that for one painfully average footballer
you think ashley would sell for 40m even if they ended up in L1? no chance

If my memory serves me right they have a very small balance sheet in terms of fixed assets as they don’t own the ground.

They don't own the land but they do own a stadium that needs serious work.

The cost of demolition, buying land elsewhere and construction means they're a dead duck.

Yup, they’re getting a bargain all right. The ground alone is probably worth more that what they’ll be paying for the club. Bit of investment (and luck) and the sky’s the limit at that price.

Grounds worth Fook all as a footy ground, whee else would buy it?

ALS saying the spending won’t be on the playing side but the infrastructure and management side.

I would say that's more the writer's opinion tbh. However I fully agree with the article. You can gaurentee by January there will be a clamour from some to spend ridiculous amounts of money.

This takeover is taking over my life. I get up i check this thread, I go to work I ask people if they have heard anything about the take over. On my break and lunch at work I check this thread. I finish work, jump in the car then before I set off home I check this thread. I get home and piss my lass of by constantly checking my phone including during eating my tea at the table, I go to bed and before I go to sleep i check for any updates. Can’t see properly cos got the takeover on my mind so check the tread numerous times during the night. Repeat repeat repeat day after day

The bloke is probably just lonely because he finds it difficult to make friends or speak civilly to others. So to compensate he arrives on this forum to satisfy his need to feel that he belongs to a group. Just my opinion. I’m not ITK about him.
Seems like a black cloud to me, when he fooks off its a nice day
Don't go outside it's windy
Yeah you could have got rid of that annoying neighbour and blamed it on the weather

I was speaking to someone about this the other day when they asked why someone with that amount of money would want a team in league one

When you think about it, we have a lot of things in place like the stadium and academy, if we got to the prem without over spending they could make some money out of us

I think I remember when Chelsea were up for sale they wanted 2 billion so it's quite a jump to buy the bigger teams

Yeah, look at Man city now, worth £2.364 billion.

This is after a total outlay by Mansour of £1.45 billion (to 30th June 2018)

Over £900 million profit (on paper) and a club at the top of the game in 10 years of ownership. Let's say Mansour put 1.45 billion into the club on day one (obviously he didn't). That works out as approximately a 5% return on his initial investment compounded annually if he sold the club.

Man City have also made a profit each season since the 14/15 season (although only a small one)

Like you say, since we have the stadium, academy, surrounding land, and importantly, an area that can be developed in a very similar way to Man City, investing in us for a legacy project as has been suggested does not seem as far fetched as some would imagine it to be. If you'd have asked City fans in 2007 if they believed what was going to happen to them, no doubt they would have said the same as a lot of posters on here, considering they were very much a mid to lower prem team who had stints in what is now league 1 in the 1998/99 season.
