Aye that's the thing. Obviously they'll need to put some of their own money in but if they can also generate cash from elsewhere they could see a massive return. Buy us for £40m and if ran well and in the PL there's no reason why you couldn't sell for around the £300m they Ashley wants for the mags. Someone buying them can enjoy the fact they make a profit year on year, but they'll never increase the clubs value by £250m odd. Don't know if it's ironic, and don't want to be compared to Alanis Morrisette, but let's just say it's funny that they've all been laughing about how little our club is worth (haha we bought a shit striker for £40m, that's as much as the mackems whole club is worth) when actually that low value might be one of the main things that gets the kind of owners in who can, eventually, blow them out of the water. I'm getting ahead of myself like but fuck it, after years of shite I'm at least looking forward to the ride
He actually says in the article thats what he thinks so basically its just his opinionThey've definitely been getting some things leaked by the club mind. Wouldn't surprise me if this was the club getting them to release it to dampen expectations a bit and prepare the fans for the fact that it's not going to be a crazy January. It makes sense like, we won't break FFP (and the league one version) so we can't go mad in January. I do expect us to spend though, as much as we can. They'll want to be in the championship next season where they can get more creative in terms of allowing us to spend more. They need to be in the PL as quickly as possible so, whilst I'm sure they will spend on infrastructure, I think they'll also want to spend on the team. Certainly I think they're prepared to be losing money initially, if not they could have done it through the partnership group as opposed to doing it as individuals; going this route suggests they don't want to have to show returns to shareholders, which in turn suggests they know it won't be immediately profitable
Yup, they’re getting a bargain all right. The ground alone is probably worth more that what they’ll be paying for the club. Bit of investment (and luck) and the sky’s the limit at that price. If this goes through the mags will be f***ing desperate to get to league one in the hopes of the same happening to them! It's an actual thing though, big clubs in the prem are bloody expensive and returns are probably limited unless you can get them top 4. Get a club in this league with the infrastructure already in place and, if you're confident you can get them back where they belong, it's a better opportunity when buying for a rock bottom price. Getting to be owner of Sunderland AFC for £40m man, at a time when clubs are paying that for one painfully average footballer
Sorry for my ignorance , how do we spend loads of dosh with this financial fair play carry on or whatever it's calledHopefully the journey back to the Premier League will be like the Reidy days again. The next few years are going to be class!
I'm sorry I don't know what 'winda' and 'clerse' meansAre them 3 sineings from the last week of the winda still clerse?
That's just Ashley's cut ffsThey can buy us for, say, £50 million, spend a further £100 million getting us to the premier league and established and that’s still half the cost of the mags.
I was speaking to someone about this the other day when they asked why someone with that amount of money would want a team in league one
When you think about it, we have a lot of things in place like the stadium and academy, if we got to the prem without over spending they could make some money out of us
I think I remember when Chelsea were up for sale they wanted 2 billion so it's quite a jump to buy the bigger teams
So, in an attempt to get this back on track... What's people's predictions for the announcement?
I'm going for Thursday morning at 9:58am..
Latest news: Everyone I've been talking to, or receiving messages from, have gone silent as from last night ... not so much as a snippette.
I'm taking this to mean that there's a period of intensity started and something will come out quickly.
Please bear in mind everything except the first sentence is speculation.
If there was a problem I reckon I'd have heard so I'm just as confident as I've always been![]()
Probably by improving the commercial side and bring in more money through better sponsorship.Sorry for my ignorance , how do we spend loads of dosh with this financial fair play carry on or whatever it's called

£100m spend doesn't necessarily get you out of the championship now. There are players going for £10m plus regularly. Villa spent a fortune in the championship and have done it again this year to try and be settled in the premier league. They can buy us for, say, £50 million, spend a further £100 million getting us to the premier league and established and that’s still half the cost of the mags.
No thanksDoes the guy who started this thread get automatic in the know status from now on?
Despite being in league at present we still have a class 1 academy - a status that our friends up the road do not have !!I was speaking to someone about this the other day when they asked why someone with that amount of money would want a team in league one
