Takeover Rumours

I’m 62. Been supporting County Durham’s team since I was six and my family took me as a treat. In those days loads of coaches ,left from Hartlepool bus station. The platform on the railway station was packed every home game.
When I was 11 I used to go to the games on my own by train.
1973 and the big interest was still there, but gradually that interest waned in my town as we left County Durham and joined Cleveland and the club’s fortunes dipped.
Peter Reid and the interest returned. Right now interest is pretty poor in my town. This takeover might just bring that interest back.
On a personal note, I really hope we make inroads. My daughter is a single Mam and her son is only three. His dad is a Man United fan. Goes to see them now and then. Has bought my grandson their strips. Watches their videos with him.
My grandson sings “ We love you Sunderland we do” by the time this takeover takes off he will be ready to go to matches. I hope by then we are competing with the likes of Man United and he tells his Dad to shove it.
We’ve had so many false dawns over the years, it’s hard to believe we could actually start to think of challenging the likes of Man Utd. But if this comes off, I honestly think it’ll change us for ever. People like this don’t do things for the sake of it; they’ll want us to be up there with the best. Hopefully your grandson will see things we’ve only ever dreamt of. I know I’m getting ahead of mesel, but I’ve never felt this excited about us for a long time. When somebody on national TV finally announces SAFC are the richest owned club in the world, I think I’ll f***ing explode. Enjoy it mate - you and your grandson 😃

aye no bother. Just pop in and piss all over our parade.

just let us enjoy a little bit of optimism eh?

Ha still very good news for you lads! just all about keeping expectations reasonable- QPR have that Lakishi Mittal who is one of the worlds richest men own a 20% stake in their club yet they aint throwing money around post FFP, Wolves are owned by a wealthy corporation and have been in the league for 2 seasons yet a section of their fans who should be in dream world are moaning they aint challenging for the CL at present - my advice is keep your expectations reasonable and you'll enjoy the ride alot more than expecting these guys to bankroll you like Man City and being disappointed if it doesnt happen :)

Man Utd are finished. They’ll be challenging boro for relegation to league 1 in a few years.

Wolves would be the realistic model I would hope for (not the super agent), but spend money to build a good team/squad, I don't want us wasting 60+ million on dead wood to get out the championship, i want us to build and if we do get to the Premier league keep building and see what happens. On a side note the top two is sealed for the foreseeable future in city and Liverpool anyway!!

Good post . I think it might fall on a few deaf ears however.
