"We’ve seen players with strong potential fall by the wayside - the wayside is veritably littered with them. Not so Duncan Watmore, a boy from a very privileged background with a good education and enough connections through his father that I doubt he’d even have to interview for a very comfortable job in his next career. "

Me-ow! How bitter?

I feel sorry for Watmore.. Yes his injury troubles mean he is getting less of a hard time.. Probably rightly so as he's been so unlucky.

But it's time to cut ties. Easier said than done but the club should be looking into a way to do this. I'd be surprised if he ever plays half a season again in his career.

This will sound harsh, but he's literally a waste of space to the club, in the sense some one else could take that space, a new signing. Both would be better off going seperate ways.

Thats all well and good. He is injured. I feel for the lad and hope he gets back to full fitness. But not at this club. I would not be taking further gambles on him considering his fitness and that is whats best for safc imo. Would you give him a new deal in Jan?
Of course I wouldn't, but I wouldn't be trying to force him out either. If he's fit play him and he either leaves on a free at the end of the season or he does enough to earn a new deal. If he's not fit then we help him with his rehab until his contract runs out then he leaves.

That's absolutely pathetic isn't it?
Awful article

Its a bad article. Tries to be something its not. Simply say... 'hes been injured a lot and we have not had the return we wished from him'. All the stuff about his background is nonsense. Nowt to do with him playing or injuries
If it was for niggly injuries that were hard to diagnose (like Rodwell) but for fucks sake the lads knee ligaments have snapped, he's hardly swinging the lead. Proper snidey article, a lot of drivel to dress up a dig at a player.

Would you renew his contract?

Thats all im saying. People seem to not like to hear it. We've had a lot of injury prone players in the past that its happened to and no one bats an eye lid. Rodwell is different. Hes forever been a lazy t**t. He could stay for treatment if he wishes as part of some deal. But in the summer i would be waving goodbye. If an opportunity came up in january where no doubt he will be allowed to speak to other clubs anyway i would cutting ties so we can bring someone in. Rather than him sat getting better to then leave on a free to another club.

Lad came out the womb offside, and not a very good player. Our fans seem to take to players who give a lot, with minimal ability.

We should be firm, but respectful. If the club turn around and sack him now after our lack of recruitment this summer in his position, we need a collective brain scan.

I hear what you're saying, but when fit (I know it's a big but), he does offer is something more. He covers a lot of ground, pushes us further forward and often causes the opposition into making mistakes.

He's no where near as bad as some believe on here.

No but thats an entirely different matter to paying him off!

Well, most of his injuries have came on the field of playing for the lads from some filthy tackles (his last injury came from an absolutely atrocious challenge that forced him off because he was running the oppo defenders ragged) to stop him... Is that a good enough reason?
I think anyone would get similar support under the same circumstances was my point.

It's beyond embarrassing.

Fair do's..my point is that he has earned the slack (despite Marco, his client, trying for a transfer or suggesting he was going to leave before his latest injury) on the field.. I , personally would move him on but I think we have passed that PoNR now.

There's nothing wrong with his fitness. He's had two very serious injuries, both caused by impacts from other players and neither his fault. Give your head a shake.
