Inter fans on Lukaku monkey chants

It’s up there with zenits ultras releasing a statement about wanting to be like athletic Bilbao but instead not allowing non basque signings, to not sign gay or black players instead. It’s the deadpan delivery that makes it all the more laughable. Quick look on google and they’ve been at it again

If you watch the Reggie Yates documentaries about Russia, their views on blacks and gays are horrendous. Their delivery is pure deadpan, as you say.

The one on last night featured a Russian homophobe who liked to spend his spare time naked in saunas with other men beating each other with branches. 🤔

I didn't say you said it was acceptable, I didn't suggest you did anywhere in my post. You did, however, suggest money is the only reason black players go there (the comment about how money talks in football) when in reality they might think that is the biggest club they can join at the time with the best career prospects for them in a country where they will have a generally good standard of living and they don't feel they should have to turn it down because of the actions of some idiots.
I think it was heavily implied if you read your reply. However written text can be interpreted in different ways so not arsed really.

For what it’s worth I find the behaviour of the fans and authorities completely abhorrent. However I believe the only way they will ever change is if black players refuse to move there in the first place. The quality of their league will suffer as a result and the authorities may change their stance. The way things are at the moment things will never change.

Ffs Bonucci actually put part of the blame on Keane for the abuse he received at Cagliari last year. Result? He moves to Everton = positive action.

Amazes me that black players still want to play in Italy or Russia. Shows that money still talks in the football world.
And Turkey.

They know exactly what to expect, yet they trouser the cash, and complain to the papers. Wankers tbh.

So you intend to defeat racists by giving them exactly what they want, interesting tactic.

So it's the players fault for expecting a base level of human decency, f***ing hell I hate the greed in the game but that there is some serious twisting of reality.

If you don't know what to expect if you're black, and sign to play in Turkey, then you're either an absolute ignorant idiot, OR you knew fine well what would happen, but chose the money anyway.

I have no sympathy for either of those 2 things.

The point you made is entirely separate, but yes, I agree completly.

Fair enough mate, didn't mean to imply it. I think we just disagree on how best to change it, for me if black players simply don't go there I don't think things will ever change. The authorities and clubs obviously don't see it as being as issue, they won't suddenly, imo, sit up and take notice just because black players don't move there even if the standard of the league does slightly regress. As far as I can tell the racists will win. Equally I don't think any individual black player should feel that he can't go there and that it is somehow off limits to him, all players should be able to make personal decisions about transfers and they shouldn't be made to feel that somehow they are letting other players down by doing so.

Instead the clubs that are guilty of racism, Cagliari seem particularly bad, should be suitably punished. Maybe if they lose points they'll start to get the message; if their plan to put off a striker in the hopes of winning 2 extra points is penalised by a 5 point deduction they'll sharply learn. Equally if there are ground closures then I'm sure the majority of cagliari fans who are presumably decent might actually start to let the racist element know that it is unacceptable.

Something needs to happen to kick start a response in Italy, but you look at England, we had the same problem years ago (I know racism is still an issue here as recent social media posts have shown, but by and large the large scale racism in grounds has stopped). We addressed it through punishments and, crucially, education. Black players didn't stop playing here, they showed that they would continue to perform regardless of a minority of idiots. That seems to have worked well and there's no reason why it can't work in Italy as well given time and given genuine commitment from fans groups and the authorities, that seems to be lacking currently however. But I can see why you feel you wouldn't want to play there and why you think simply not playing might be an option, wasn't implying anything

Them seem unable to see that race is something you can not use as an insult. I don't doubt they have black friends and colleagues but they think if they are insulting someone it's OK to use racial abuse. You can't insult or make of someone's race, one has no control over their racial make-up. However if you're a red head or bald watch out as the righteous will see you as fair game.

What if you're both?

No way I feel sympathy for the greedy twat he must have knowvn what he was going to get over there it's well documented he is not they first and he will not be the last.

It’s not exactly what they want though is it? They want the top black players at their club but are happy to racially abuse opposition players to “put them off”. Until somebody makes a stance they won’t change for at least a generation.
it needs a player to say they are not moving to a club as they are racist...a big name so it will really hurt the club in question
Exactly.

You make some great points there. However with the current political climate in Italy I am not sure they want to change. Would love to be proved wrong though.
