“If the performance was poor from minute one, I’d have accepted that as a potential criticism, but we were at it on Saturday."

We are a legitimate division three side. The failure from some to accept this is putting untold pressure on things.

 Yeah, I know, it’s the fans fault.

Do you understand that we spent more than this whole league combined? That what we spent was the biggest spend EVER in this league? That our wage bill is probably 10x what most teams could afford?

The failure is absolutely and completely because of management...

How do you people accept failure at this level of magnitude? We are the definition of underachievement, Being in League 1 punting the ball all over the pitch is not a success story...the failure from some to accept this is mind numbing.

I'm wondering if we got the cash to pay him off.....anyone any idea how much it would cost? All new management team to find and pay for, after removing the old......It's gotta be a fair bit of dough that

Failure is what we experienced in the previous 10 years leading to this point. By all means add this period to it if you can’t handle being in this division. Personally I see it as stopping the rot and resetting the ckub as something the fans can relate to.
You talk like a bank manager not a fan and yet the unsustainable cost of running thus club is why we are where we are.
Maybe you have played to much championship manager to understand this is not a one dimensional situation whereby money = success.

And what happened in the first game of the season when they didnt set the world on fire... meltdown! Reckon Ross took them out of the firing line and put Leadbitter and Power in because they can handle it not because they are more effective.

That was down to his bizarre 3-4-3 formation, not the players.

I believe people's expectations are fair. The biggest club in the division should dominate a few teams.

Unfortunately the manager has completely lost the plot.
The objective in football is to score goals and whilst having possession is helpful it is not the be all and end all.
We have no end product and without Maguire we looked as if we could play for a month of Sundays and wouldn't have scored.
Our current owners won't sack him because they will not want to put their hands in their pockets so we hope the prospective buyers will see what is obvious and get rid.

Agree with this.

The first half was very even, only difference was a superb piece of individual quality.

2nd half we were the better side until they scored on the break.

After the 2nd goal however it was painful to see us visibly collapse.
At half time I didn't think there was much in it at all we just cancelled each other out, the chances created was disappointing but we have played worse and won games, was never a 3 niller but things obviously got away from us last half hour, shape and discipline all over the place, that needs looking at as much as the lack of real opportunities to score.

I'm hoping if the takeover happens, instead of going deeper into safety first mind set. He'll realise that won't cut the mustard with the new owners and will change to a pressing, attacking game with the likes of Dobson and 09 in midfield supporting attacks as well as getting back and defending.
We never pile bodies into the box which defenders hate.

Good post.
The club was completely broken when the owners and Ross arrived
They’ve rebooted us and we are on the way back. There is no quick fix - ask a Leeds United fan. It might take two or three years to get out of league 1, it might take another 10 to get back to the PL. there is no divine right because of it name or history.

The lack of creativity is a massive concern and has been for months. The fact we done very little about it in the transfer window was and is shocking. I think it will cost Ross his job

It's hard to stand out in noisy social media, having a pop at THE MAGS when you have a book to sell is always going to wake Shearer up. Respect to Lineker chucking petrol all over it too. Sorry, derailed the thread.
I’ll bet Shearers got one out next year. Same publishers, PR etc.

That is absolute bollocks. I’d say those people who aren’t critical are the ones who are happy to see us defeated.
You, Bagpuss, Concert party, etc. Always laying into posters who think we should be doing much, much better than spending a second season in L1 and still playing dreadful football despite Ross having the biggest budget ever in the division, iirc.
One decent performance so far this season, and it was a cup game. You’ll no doubt be buzzing if we have to spend a third season in this division, still making excuses for Ross.
  dear god. The people who like the manager and think he will get us promoted this season are pleased to see us get beat. Your post is the biggest load of shit I've ever read on these boards. Read it back man, you will agree too. It's obviously been posted in a fit of rage and without any thought but Christ what a mess.

He's right like, the first half was like the f***ing alamo. We were raining shots are their goal left right and centre, it's a miracle we weren't at least 6-1 up by half time

If we were on it from minute one and still lost 3 nil then weve got big problems as we are clearly not good enough even when 'on it'

Do you blame Ross or the scouting 'network' ,the owners or all of them?!

His contract is up at the end of this season so it probably wouldn’t be that much.

Everyone takes a bit of the blame to be fair.

The owners gutted the scouting department (fair enough) but made very poor appointments. Theyve been great away from the footballing side no question but on theres been little strategy on the playing side. No money to spend this window, whether because they assume the squad is good enough, we can’t afford to spend or they don’t trust the manager I don’t know.

The scouting team is more or less non existent. Richard Hill should never have been given a job and tony coton has been ill for a long period. Scouting also appears to be non existent and our modus operandi appears to be to ask clubs and agents who is available. We know we’ve been attending such events and given we’ve had no scouts until at least February there’s no way we’ve watched some of the players we’ve brought in.

Ross however still has the largest and most expensive squad in the league available to him. Last season in particular he was backed and had players already at the club who should have been enough to get promotion. He’s constantly pressing the brake it seems and holding us back. I can count on one hand the amount of genuinely good performances under him in his 60+ games. We’ve had more good results than that for sure but they’ve been in scrappy, edgy, nervy games where we’ve scraped past the finish line.
