Takeover Rumours

That's fine mate, as long as you're not putting me under any pressure

OK, I've resisted so far but I'll say more having spoken to the personal friend of two of the buyers.

He's been in touch today and given me just a little more info but not much tbh.
I'm stringing him along but have no intention of working for him as Mrs Reiver wasn't happy with the proposal. I'm only pretending to be considering his offer so I can get more info for you lot which I think is decent of me tbf. It's a shame I won't be able to use him for real first hand inside info, in the future, If I worked for him I'd get to meet his friends in a relaxed atmosphere and work my undoubted charm.
That would put me in a position where I have two of our owners as 'friends' and be able to let them use me as a 'source' to leak stuff to the likes of you ;)

I'm gutted but our lass puts up with a lot and she comes before you lot.

Anyway, having set the scene, here's what else I can say, in terms we're all familiar with, and without breaking confidences. The new owners are as cool as the other side of the pillow but absolutely driven in their quest for absolute success in every aspect of their lives. Every part of the club will be electro-shocked into action, money will be pumped into it by whatever means are legally available and anyone who 'fails' will be forced to walk the plank. The supporters, despite all the years of promises, magic carpets and disappointment, will be expected to get on board. I suspect that, if that support is begrudging, the owners will feel free to do whatever they wish to attract sponsorship, investment and support from outside the UK. We have to bear in mind that TV, sponsorship, merchandising, corporate involvement, etc, totally eclipse our input. We have a chance, maybe only one, to be a big part of this ... otherwise we'll see it happen despite us, not because of us.

That would hurt me and, I hope, all of you.
Like i said earlier, if this happens....everyone needs to get on board, SD has got lot of people back but its up to some to look themselves in the mirror & get behind the lads....this will probably, most definately be the only chance in our lives we have to compete.

If they come on board pumping money in, no excuses, if yer can afford to watch the game in a pub you can afford to support the lads properly. away games understand cost lot more so cant really knock watching in a pub. plus we will never be short on that front.

Your club needs you....needs all of us

Really hoping this does go through. I'd be happy with either instantly chucking cash about or steadily growing into a decent team.

I'd like to think a bit success for the club would drive investment in the city as well. Time will tell but I am alot more optimistic than I have been in recent years.

Kinell.... we're going to have players on the front of the fifa 25 game reading this.

It's like somebody's put the cheat codes in on LMA manager.

You need to stop going out on a limb @Reiver mate. I very much doubt your Italian friend will think of looking on here but if he does then you've put your friendship in jeopardy for no other reason than to give impatient and or disbelieving people on here a little bit more info which nobody deserves. Huge thanks for all your info mate, it's absolutely appreciated but in all honesty, I think you've given us more than enough and if you didn't post anything else regarding the takeover then I would like to think no one would begrudge you that.

Thanks mate, that's greatly appreciated.

I did speak to Mr Tonna and he gave me carte blanche to post about him on here. He's a good friend and knows how fanatical I am about the club.
He laughed about it all tbh.

I posted that link as much to reassure the decent people like you as to kick the doubters in their nuts

like previously said, you don't have to prove yourself to anyone 👍 ;)
let the haters, hate.......
thanks for the info, I'm like a kid on crimbo eve atm ha

Should we reach those dizzy heights then that would be my worst fear. Success would be absolutely massive for us that have followed the lads through decades of false hopes and disappointments, but there will naturally be those that know nothing of our past and will accept a win as something of a right of passage. I'm sure there's a large portion of our support that won't forget the bad times should success come our way.

This ^ awaken the sleeping giant and see what happens.

this all day long,i'm imagining sitting in the HWH pre match, and the conversation topic is all about can you remember what it was like just a few short years ago,i remember 1962 first match,1973 for obvious reasons,Peter Reid years, the odd cup final to get the blood racing, but over those 57 years mainly poor,so i'm raising a glass to the takeover, please let it happen HTL

Do you think from the conversations you have had that the scouting and recruitment side will get the same treatment as the corporate money making side?

I know what you mean but it's the longest Christmas Eve ever!!! And I can't help doubting if Santa is definitely coming!!!!

I didn't get to discuss that mate.

All he said was that we should expect a tsunami to go through the whole club.

They're well aware that Short allowed departments to engage way too much bodies and too many sub standard personnel.

There'll be no round pegs in square holes with the new regime.

Sunderland became a rest home for under achieving staff, coasting scouts and the likes of Moyes with his car load of semi retired Everton players.

I feel like I should get back into the gym in case I'm barred from supporting us

Cheers for the reply, I'm taking tsunami through the club as a huge yes and can't wait for the fun to start
