Takeover Rumours

If we scraped into the PL with Donald we'd struggle ...
... if we go up with these people, and they invest in the squad, I'd say for sure.

I honestly think had we got into the PL with Donald it would've been an absolute accident on his part. The plan was always to get further clout.

Theoretically, we could be sitting top of the Championship now and he'd surely have a bit of a dab on

Luckily we're nowhere near that good.

Nothing but I never brought it up I was responding to someone mentioning it and trying to put a downer on it. Read the posts before mine and then put your question to that person and not me. Why don’t people read posts properly before jumping in and having a go at the wrong person.
I read them bob and agree with everything you said, worrying me how many on this thread are trying to put a downer on this. Why are they doing it ,god knows.

This is all hypothetical, but I wonder if winning the play-offs last season would've given us higher gates in the Championship or going up automatically this season.

I'll do anything not to do work like.

IF we manage it and with new owners o think this season is better.....similar to 1998/1999.

The steam was running out last season after faltering at the end and I think people would have been glad to go up but not convinced by how we did it.

Framework already developed.

MSD may or may not be interested but money making possibilities if they were and they would be pushing at an open door in the city if they invest in the football club.

Who knows but potentially very exciting times.
this is really impressive, I was aware of the discussions re a multi use arena featuring ice rink amongst other things but was not aware of the total scheme.

Do you reckon we'd get 40k+ gates in the Championship?

Nothing against optimism, but I think we won't see regular 40k+ again until Premiership. If and when we get back there.
I think if all this comes off and we find out what's going on. I think 40k is easily achievable with if investment in team is done and playing good football. We averaged over 30 k last season playing mainly shite football.

It was brilliant mate - very very expensive, but brilliant

I went to the Patriots game Vs Colts at Gillette last October as well mate, absolutely unreal. Patriot place is lovely and sounds the same as Cowboys stadium, completely Patriots owned and aimed at getting the fans there for an all day affair. The money they must generate must be phenomenal! If SAFC could achieve something along those lines it would be a massive hit over here too.

OK boys & girls, here we go, neck on the line.

I'm seeing a fella on Sunday at his home in Berkshire who's a real high flyer. He's just told me that one of his best mates, Glen Fuhrman, is the new Sunderland owner.

I couldn't talk long as he's just driving back from the south of France but he's promised to give me the full story on Sunday.

I'm just off out but that's all I have anyway, as far as I'm concerned it's a done deal.

Agree - live music, live sport on huge screens, dancers, great food, great beers. It’s brilliant and extremely efficient at emptying your wallet

But hey -Safc can empty mine any time if I can see a proper team

Do they take prisoners at that level?

Thanks for the link... so much scope to make Sunderland a City to be proud of (not just the club). Particularly enjoyed reading this "It is worth stressing that given the limited townscape quality of the Sheepfolds area any retention of historic buildings that provide a connection between the area and it’s rich industrial history is considered important and worthwhile in terms of creating a legible place and making a connection with the area’s a past. "

I'm struggling with the magnitude of what the takeover could mean. Just over a year ago, we were looking at the real threat of administration (or worse).

Do you think it’ll be announced before Sunday Riv?
Get the fuck in

.... here we go, my suicide note for this board if it goes wrong.

I don't know Sheepfolds too well. What buildings around there would be considered historically or architecturally valuable?

Just like we never get the tourists to come to the air show?

Or the way we didn’t get them to come to the tall ships ?

Do you think hundreds of thousands of people flocked to Ripon before they built Lightwater Valley?

Ive no idea if there’s even a scrap of truth in the idea of them building a theme park here but why write it off like that?
I'm talking about it being part of a match day experience like calm down. Of course a massive and proper fairground would attract people but you couldn't have something on a large scale as being part of the match day experience could you?

The idea of live music and festival atmospheres - unless you had a greatteam the novelty would wear off, it's a fact. Now building a theme park, a proper one would be great but realistically - if you want to join it up with the match day experience, you need a village with pubs and bars, with reasonably priced beer. Apartments and businesses to make it sustainable on non match days
