Takeover Rumours

Let's get real here, there will be no Theme Park built next to the SOL, for a start there just isn't the space for one, you'd walk around it in about five minutes.

Framework already developed.

MSD may or may not be interested but money making possibilities if they were and they would be pushing at an open door in the city if they invest in the football club.

Who knows but potentially very exciting times.

Do you reckon we'd get 40k+ gates in the Championship?

Nothing against optimism, but I think we won't see regular 40k+ again until Premiership. If and when we get back there.
It depends on what happens with this investment/takeover. If we go up and make a few good quality signings we will get up to 40K.

How would they get round Thompson's? Close that factory and it's basically game over for them. That puts those still there out of work. The council own most of that area anyway, not the club.
I dont know mate. Not from Sunderland, however, would have thought a relocation package could be arranged?

Sorry dont want to sidetrack thread just someone asked.

Easy!!!

IF the support base sees that we are truly ambitious we could have near full houses in the Championship. SAFC just needs the touchpaper lighting, I’m hoping the new owners will set it ablaze

I hope you're both right. I think re-opening the Concourse will be a milestone in itself and, should we be able to get a decent amount in there, re-pump the atmosphere with proximity to the away fans.

I was in Dallas for work in November and went to the Cowboys game. You have to say it’s an amazing day out - the facilities for drinking and eating before the game all belonged to the club and were outrageously good
I wouldn’t want all parts of it replicated but you can’t deny that there’s a lot to learn from how they do things - it’s a full day out before the game. Weather is the difference but you can see an indoor pre match facility being a real differentiator for us

That’s about it, yep!
Jammy bugger. I'm a cowboys fan and it's an aim of mine to get there and see them someday

Depends on the circumstances. Win league one convincingly and sign some exciting (for that level) players and the momentum will build. People will want to be part of the journey if we look like the sky is the limit, not just wait for us to be in the PL then scramble for tickets.

Scrape up in the play offs and don't spend much on the squad and I can't see crowds improving much.

I know all about the proposed Sports Village/Housing developments at the Sheepfolds, that PDF is actually out of date, as the footbridge is planned to cross the River Wear from the Vaux site approximately where The Launch art work was planned but was cancelled, partly to accommodate the planned footbridge.

Relocate mate there'll be plenty units available elsewhere in Sunderland. Sure I heard they're building new units along Hendon as some places are moving there from Pallion where they're building the new road from the new bridge to the town

This is all hypothetical, but I wonder if winning the play-offs last season would've given us higher gates in the Championship or going up automatically this season.

I'll do anything not to do work like.

if this goes through and these start pumping money into the team we'd easily get 40k+ in the championship

It doesn’t half put things into perspective, whilst we’re all nursing a semi on, looking forward to the new investment, there are two old football clubs on the very brink of going out of existence.

I know we’re currently in the lowest time of our history (league-wise) but we do have a lot to be grateful for.

The original plan years ago, when the Sports Village first got proposed was for Edward Thompson to knock the factory down and move to redeveloped papermill site at Hendon Grange, however that's now been knocked down for houses, Originally a Leisure Pool complex was planned for the actual site of the ET factory, however this was before the Olympic Swimming pool was built.

If we scraped into the PL with Donald we'd struggle ...
... if we go up with these people, and they invest in the squad, I'd say for sure.
