How many 3rd division clubs are,

  • 'Debt free'
  • 45k+ modern stadium
  • 45+ potential gates
Portsmouth need a new ground, Coventry don't have one, Ipswich couldn't fill one.

If we go up and strengthen for the Championship we would have 40k+ gates, PL would be 45k+ and challenging for Europe would need an extension ....

... I'm halfway there already

The lets wait and see what happens line. Put it this way if i was a professional betting man and just looking at the risk management aspect of the bet I would bet on SAFC being a much bigger success than the UK in there respective fields of financial stability-and by that i obviously mean the UK unfortunately being a massive failure on international trade agreements and SAFC having a very healthy and sustainable future in the premier league. Looking at the men behind SAFC and the men behind Brexit is one of the indicators of probable outcome.
You have me wrong, I’m all for what’s happening with safc and cannot wait for this takeover to happen. I was just replying to someone that was bringing brexit into the equation and trying to put a downer on it. Maybe you should reply to his post.

Also the area around the SoL is ripe for development, whereas they can't even make the Landfill look finished 'cos they're so hemmed in.
This could be one of the most exciting projects the NorthEast has seen in decades.

What's the alleged project? Haven't been able to wade through this whole thread.

I really don’t see their motivations in this being financial. They will have multiple options on a daily basis that are bigger games and better profits than investing in a football club.

I think this is some ultra rich blokes who are massively competitive by nature fancy a go at winning some of the biggest prizes in world sport starting from a difficult position.
The sums involved are relatively irrelevant to them - as difficult as that is to grasp
Good post.

Im always intrigued when people take an easy route and dont take on a challenge ie a teacher getting employed by a top school. If I do something Id like to make a real difference rather than just maintaining the status quo..in reality anyone can do that. Teach kids where you are going to turn their life around! Make a difference is what I say!!

Hopefully these lads are going to do that to our Club and if as a spin off some good can be done in regenerating the city even better...certainly having a world leader like Dell associated with the city will do no harm whatsover.

Of course not - you aren't allowed that much money in an ISA. It will be in a regular savings account ;)

...there are a lot of people who don't seem to understand the difference between wealth and liquidity though!

Do you reckon we'd get 40k+ gates in the Championship?

Nothing against optimism, but I think we won't see regular 40k+ again until Premiership. If and when we get back there.

WTF has this got to do with football
Nothing but I never brought it up I was responding to someone mentioning it and trying to put a downer on it. Read the posts before mine and then put your question to that person and not me. Why don’t people read posts properly before jumping in and having a go at the wrong person.

We have had 40,000 gates in the Championship regularly in the past.

With some investment, winning and good football we will fill the SOL in the Championship imho.

Bring the feel good factor back, like these blokes will be able to and we'll fill 40K no problem if competing for promotion in the championship.

If I win the Lottery tonight Ill give the lads the money to build the extension. :)

Shouldnt be too much per seat given Sir Bob's vision

I haven't read it all either, and I have no idea about specifics, but there has been a lot of speculation about theme parks on Sheepfolds and footbridges from the town, amongst others. I was just pointing out that there is a bit of space around the ground which would not be expensive for people wanting to set up a 'legacy project'. Riverside locations are popular. That flat area near the old lime-kilns is a proper sun-trap. A bit of imagination could turn this into a big thing for the City.

These fellas are buying a Rolls Royce in need of some attention for the price of an old banger. They have the money to get that Rolls Royce back up to standards and worth the value of a Rolls Royce again.

I'd have us down as a Rover. Nice to look at from the outside but flaws in the mechanics.

Just like we never get the tourists to come to the air show?

Or the way we didn’t get them to come to the tall ships ?

Do you think hundreds of thousands of people flocked to Ripon before they built Lightwater Valley?

Ive no idea if there’s even a scrap of truth in the idea of them building a theme park here but why write it off like that?
Let's get real here, there will be no Theme Park built next to the SOL, for a start there just isn't the space for one, you'd walk around it in about five minutes.

If we haven't made a profit this year then the idea the owners have sorted out the cost base is wildly wrong

You're right it's not publicly verifiable (yet) but with that level of icnome and the cost-cutting that's gone on there's no way we are loss-making last season
The major doubt about making a loss/profit this season surely depends on how much the termination of the contracts of the higher earners cost us.
