2ND ASHES TEST: LORDS

Roy is a f***ing joke

No he is not, he has been stuck opening the batting at start of his test careeer in the high pressure of the Ashes when he doesn’t even open for his county!!

That’s the joke, that he has been put in that position, if selected should have been batting at 6.

Knew this would happen and people who start having a go, it’s totally unfair on the lad!

I like Roy but if he is in this team get him at 4 or 5 if at all. Certainly not an opener and unfair on the lad to ask him to do it when he doesnt even do it for his county.

I’d have had Roy in after buttler personally but he can’t be attacking that early on he’s not a test opener.

Maybe send Roy away and tell him he has to play county cricket, see if he can get some scores and then consider him back for a test cap.
Great idea, only there's no real county cricket for him to play thanks to the ECB! 🙄

Agree. IMHO Roy should be batting 5 between Root and Stokes but we have no-one to open so he's been shoe-horned in there

I can agree it’s unfair that he has been put in that position but the 3 balls he had he played shockingly .

He has enough experience to know he shouldn’t be playing at that

Exactly, you can't make any excuses for his shot in the second innings at Edgbaston, and the way he played today.

Root should open

Throwing rookie after rookie at is simply not working

But you just create a bigger problem at number 3 then.

It’s crazy imo throwing in a lad with no experience at test cricket or as a opener thus destroying his confidence of a very good player while a experienced test player and previous opener is in the side.

It’s not ideal but with current set up and personal best option.
