Newcastle FC (Aug 19)

The first half reminded me of the Chelsea game, their pressing was great and they were probably unlucky not to score. I'd say they'll be fine, I've always thought Bruce was a decent manager, just lost it when bent and gyan went unfortunately

Just read a post from an Arsenal fan on BBC Sport asking how Newcastle could run out of pies in the ground at the first game of the season...... he clearly didn't look at the home bench:D
Just snorted me Messina through me nostrils, thanks.

Looked like a pub player

He really didn't like.
Bang on. They'll criticise the lack of ambition and rigid tactics - ignoring the fact that's exactly how Rafa set up against the big teams.

Rafa had very little success either, they beat Man City but lost all the other 11 games against the top 6 last season.

We were much more ambitious and certainly did not play with rigid tactics. Too far the other way in the second half.

Erm, I'm not sure, ha, ha. It's a Samsung J5. Cheapo job (ish). Not sure what constitutes "large" or "small" when it comes to phone screens, marra. Anar nowt when it comes to any form of technology!
5 inch screen that I think. I think it's down to the resolution, yours may be just under spec. One for the help desk board cloughy lad.
Cheers, Silver. Now I'm a newly-fledged captain of curding, I dinnat need such amateurish aids as buttons, man. I'm a square bracket super boy!

Christ have you been drinking

Yes, but I'm not drunk. They were the better side in the first half. In the second half arsenal went up a gear and were clearly the better side, but there were definite signs in the first that Newcastle could upset a few teams.

It was actually a classic Bruce match, class effort and a complete brain fart to concede. I'm not saying they're going to win the league, just that they'll be fine.

I felt the balance was okay but the tactics were fairly rigid i'd say. Not much beyond the banks of 4 with the ball going into Joe Linton and the Santiago Muniz looking kid playing off him. Nobody really running out of position or taking a risk. That's the way I saw it. I felt if you'd properly gone for it a bit more after the goal you may have created a bit more. So i'd have to disagree.

Again - absolutely nothing wrong with that at all. I have a feeling a few Mags will criticise him though.

He didn't look like a £40M player. He looked poor, as did Almiron and Saint-Max. Its way early days but none of them looked Premiership standard. Also, was that Longstaff's normal standard because I thought he had an awful game - rarely involved but gave the ball away when he got it. Hayden and Shelvey, on the other hand, looked decent.

Cant argue with any of that. Longstaff only played 10 games but he is better than today.... i think.

They will. Some did Pardew and we were 5th.
