Drink Driving Conviction/Coaching Kids

So if you go out on a Saturday you shouldn’t dive till Monday? That makes you the same as someone drinking 8/9 pints then driving home?

Nonsense

It’s still drink driving mate - you will ultimately be banned. If you need to do something the next day, ffs just limit what you drink or make other arrangements.

I’d honestly feel ashamed and embarrassed if I failed a test with the kids in the back.
Utter bollocks man

It is mate. Its defended because plenty on here have done it and they don’t like to think they are drink drivers.

It’s easily avoided if you restrict your drinking or make other plans for the next day. For example, last Sat I had a skinful at the match and knew I’d be miles over the limit to take the kids swimming. Rather then being a tit, I simply asked the wife to drive. Problem solved.

Sadly I know blokes who are so under the thumb, they are terrified to change plans in case they get wrong.

Yeah it would have been I'm certain. I can tell you the story, I was in Whitley bay with my then girlfriend who lived in Blyth, she had a phonecall off her sister saying her boyfriend had just beaten her up and could we go round. At the time Whitley was in its prime, quickest taxi was about 2hrs, made the decision to drive there cause we were both panicking. Got stopped half way there, explained the situation to the police, one car took her to her sister's house, the other took me to the nick !
No need to explain mate. Took balls to admit it. I wonder how many people have drunk drove and not been caught who would admit it? By the law on the morning after I will have been touch and go a few times for many on here.

You don’t have to be drunk, just fail a breath test.

I teach 4 kids who are all on academy books.

All 4 are arrogant little shitehawks who think they are going to be global superstars.

Maybe they will but not with the attitudes they display. This is backed up by parents who don’t support the school at all.
I once run an under 13 footie club in Sunderland it was a nightmare.
Parents threatened parents (same team)
Parents threatened other team parents.
Parents threatened kids both teams.
Parents threatened refs
Parents threatened me

Once heard someone shout “break his f***ing leg” against murton.

I know loads of blokes and women who have a bottle of wine at least every night and take their kids to school every morning. Unfortunately it’s a fact of life nowadays.

It always has been not just nowadays.

What’s everyone’s thoughts?

If someone has just been convicted of drink driving, when they’re expected to be a positive role model, should they be allowed to continue working with children?

Would you be happy to allow them to continue coaching your child?

Can I ask if your child plays or has played in this team?

People on here seem to think it's ok to drive 'the next day' after drinking a good lash of it.

"Oh, sorry officer. I got a few hours sleep, but I thought I'd be ok because it's the next day. *Hic*".

As long as he wasnt driving the team minibus at the time
But that’s the problem. If he’s irresponsible enough to go out and drive whilst drunk, would he then pile a load of kids in his Range Rover and drive while still over the limit the next morning? I think we know the answer.

I don’t think they do. I think they just do it. Me included.
Edit not after a lash like.

But you both coach in peterlee?

I work for a coaching company and have an U13s team.
He’s a club coach for an U11s team.

Dunno if you’re trying to imply we are in competition or anything like that but we aren’t.

I’ve actually helped out other teams within his club numerous times, lending them my nets, etc.

No mate you said you never knew him but you both run teams in peterlee and I know that the grass roots football community is small. And that there is a good chance you will know him. If so why deny it? That’s why I asked.

Ah right. Sorry.

He travels from South Shields to this area to run his team, hence not knowing him personally.

I've been over the limit and drove tonnes of times. I don't know a person who won't have been at some point tbh. It's obviously not right like but drinking and driving (the next day) is just the way it is.
