Are Driving standards getting worse

Much worse IMO. You get some clowns who don't signal but they don't signal when turning right at roundabouts. Er how the fuck can you give way if we think someone is going straight on?

Idiots trying to join motorways doing about 30 MPH on the slip road, incredibly dangerous.

People who can't judge a gap. Car doing 30 about 50 yards away and they just sit there.

People who can't read the road at all. For example idiots slowing right down and then giving way to nobody at roundabouts.

The list is endless :)

Benton asda is something else. They've replaced a normal mini roundabout with a shit ton of lights. Why the fuck can some people not use roundabouts? My lass (no) is terrible with them.

Going to Leeds Bradford airport after the A1 turn off is a prime example of why they are bad.
Years ago it was left lane left or straight ahead and right to turn right.
The same road has different instructions on individual roundabouts even when they have the same exits.

The instructions are a painted arrow on the road, that is just stupidity from whoever decided to take away the simplicity of them.

No mobile phones back in the day.
The young team, especially lasses, are horrendous drivers - and all to do with not paying enough attention to the road ahead and their surroundings.
They get through their tests, and then they bomb about with their phones at the wheel, online and texting.
I see it everyday.

Same. I saw a lass on the motorway in a little hatchback texting. I only noticed because she was in the inside lane and drifted over the lines and then back in again.

Thought that was a bit weird so glanced over to see if it was a blind old bloke but it was some young lass looking down at something in her lap, presumably her phone.

A few months later a bloke was in front of me on a dual carriageway blocking the outside lane doing 50, again drifting in and out of his lane.

As I passed him...yep he was texting.

See so many young lasses texting at traffic lights, then holding traffic up because they missed the green.

Thick as f***ing mince.

How much of that is down to safer cars?
Next time you pull up to a roundabout take a look in your rear view mirror, you will be amazed how many people you see looking down at there phones.

i drive a wagon and it's shocking the amount of people on their 'phones, laptops, doing paperwork, reading books/papers, watching videos, putting make up on etc is incredible. the worst are folk turning round to talk to their bairns in baby seats in the outside lane of the a19 at rush hour. absolute clowns the lot of them. same fuckers have baby on board signs in the back or such like.

Think it's partly to do with current thinking in most people now that they are the most important person in the world and what they are doing is unquestionably right and takes priority over everyone and everything. Any consequences are not their fault or problem.
Driving just exhibits their beliefs.

Probably impossible to say one way or another although you rarely ever hear anyone admit they aren't a good driver. Someone must be. 🎆🚗

f***ing hate them. Alright mate, I was all set to plough into your boot at 80mph for a laugh but I'll hold off now I've seen your sign.

Same with twats who have 'dads taxi'. Hillarious chief, I've never heard that one before.

Bring back moonies, sticky on sun bleached garfields, and them fingers trapped in the boot latch.

Don't get me started on judging speed and distance. Sometimes I wish I was in a tank so I could roll straight over the idiots who pull out on a 50 road when you're a hundred feet away.

Aslo, when did it become the law to slow to a virtual stop when going round a corner?

Driving right up your arse when you're in a queue of traffic - I'm not Bruce Almighty mate, the traffic doesn't just part ahead of me.

Gandalfing - overtaking someone who's trundling along in the inside lane until they spot you and by the time you get alongside they're doing the same speed - YOU SHALL NOT PASS!

Owening AKA playing on the shoulder - when someone comes roaring up the outside lane (beware Gandalfing at this point) and then inexicably sits in your blind spot. Get past or get behind.

Compulsory dash cams and a limit on the car engine you can get, say only a 1 litre engine or limited bhp until you've been driving five years.

Hard to prove how long someone has been driving.

I’ve been driving for four of the five years since I passed my test.

My best mate has been driving for two of the eleven years since he passed his test

I'm genuinely amazed at how many people that are out on the road that do not have a license. Either currently banned or have not passed a test yet.

The war on phone use is already lost, and it’s only going to get worse. The sooner the authorities realise this and sanction heads up displays the better. That or faraday cage cars and phones in the boot.
