The lass (no) Just raised an argument as to why you can't buy a ticket just before the draw and why can't you?

It has my head thinking. Need the wise smb perspective

Group tea bag :)

So why can't you buy a ticket at 19:59 when it's drawn at 20:00?

It will be to do with the surrounding regulations.

Ticket purchases will cease prior to the balls and machine being selected and set up to prevent insider influences positively affecting the result of the draw.

They need to be able to prevent claims that any winner has won by chance rather than fraudulent means.

So the complete opposite to what the OP is suggesting.

Sounds reasonable.

Could be historical logistics of it too. I imagine the system was a lot slower back in 1993 when the lotto started.

She’s asking why you can’t buy a ticket immediately prior to the draw. I’m proposing reasons why. I think anyway.

Obviously. ;)
Sorry, I mean your response was completely logical, which is the opposite to what the OP is asking.

It certainly seems like it's fixed in many cases.
The rollovers alone seem too contrived in order to entice more people to come into it and also more people to put more money on in the hope of winning the larger jackpot.

As theyve increased the number of balls it reduces the chances of winning, so increases the number of rollovers.

If you want to throw money away bet on the national lottery 🤞

Aye but I was talking about before they upped it, which is a fix in itself.
Why would you need to "fix" something with such ridiculous odds to begin with?
Simply to ensure the participants gain a small share of the spoils whilst the big hitters take the lions share.
