Methven. Where is he ?

Ha'way mate, I think that's a little unfair. Whilst he has said a few things that have been negative, he also raves about our support and potential. You've got to look at the overall picture surely, it's not as though the bloke has only ever said bad things about our fans.

If truth be told, our vocal support could be better. Our fans could be more patient within the ground. Obviously there are excuses for both, but the criticism is also justified imo.
We've been very patient.

He'd publicly rip our support to shreds then.. Justifiably in some people's eyes too.
Well Charlton were better in his eyes on the day ! He should never even think about having a dig when I'm sure the level of our support is something he uses to big up his own profile !

He can't go criticising fans for making a choice. Whether we disagree they go to pubs to watch it is all completely irrelevant. Where I pre drink before the match I see the same 4 blokes in the pub who I know will watch our matches in there. Its their choice.

The owners are damn lucky to be pulling in 33k attendances in a second season in league one. But they are punching above their weight.

It’s their choice mate, but from experience they are the first to moan and in general put nothing back into the club.

Tin hat on; but there is an element of our fan base that looks for negatives. I know it pissed off our previous regime.

Genuine question as I didn't pay much attention, did Quinny get the same level of 'abuse' for the same thing the Methven has done?

He got a bit of criticism.. It was Quinns first and last time though. Methven just can't help himself. It's hard to fault Quinn when he's done so much for our club. He made a mistake and probably acknowledged it.

Your probably right. I'm not one to look for negatives. I just point out the ones I see.
I don't think Methven is a good thing for our club.

Don't get me wrong I'm not comparing the 2, 1 has a lasting legacy and the other will be long forgotten. It just seems to me the parasite comment is never going to go away yet Quinny may have said similar. FWIW worth I also agree with another poster who said the parasite comment was aimed at the pubs, not the fans - how can a fan be a parasite of the club, fans are the opposite they put in, not take out.

It depends how you define patience in our circumstance. Whilst I agree we've been patient in terms of sticking by the side and continuing to pull in big crowds, the fans are certainly not patient at times in the ground. It only takes a stray pass or a player to pass the ball back instead of forwards (when nothing is on I might add) for large pockets of our fans to respond with moans and groans. That's not normal imo and I don't know why it's seeped into our support and is now commonly accepted. Yes, we're frustrated, but this has been the same for years now. It doesn't help matters and I can't understand it.

There are times when the options are:

1. Pass the ball back and retain possession;
2. Attempt to play the ball forward when nothing's on and risk losing the ball.

If either of those options are selected and option 2 results in an incomplete pass, the fans groan. It's lose lose basically and very odd.

He got a fair few digs on here at the time and even now he gets his fair share of blame for where we are now.

I think it's easier to let him off because of what he did do for us, as a player as an owner AND because he brought Royston in.

Quinn will go down in history (if not literally then memory-wise) I remember watching him at Roker Park, Methven will be long forgotten. It just seems to be the exact same question that they've asked and the common concensus seems totally different.

I agree, but Methven has been here two minutes, has fuck all history with us and hasn't exactly earned the right to question the fans based on what is being served up.

I think that's the difference.

I know most of the reasons for it!and ive heard all the excuses but i must admit when i walked into wembley for the playoff final i went wtf when i saw the swathes of empty seats in the upper teir!I never thought that safc would not sell out a wembley final!and before all the abuse starts its just how i felt and nothing will change that.Charlies response was petulant and unprofessional and very stupid for a pr guru!

Maybe he wants a Charlton style support where half the fuckers hadn't been to a game all season. Maybe he would rather be at a club pulling 15K at home then can find 45K for a one off game ?!?
the problem is safc fans always go on about it being a massive club and talk up the gates and the potenntial..then do t sell out..it looks bad..charlie was wrong to say what he said..but safc fans are sometimes wrong to highlight potential when they dont sell out..
