Oxford also had new players in their team yesterday, but they played better football than we did, and looked much more dangerous in attack than we did, especially in the first half.
We looked disjointed and short on creativity again.
Hume in particular was all over the place, and it was little wonder, Oxford got so much joy down their right wing yesterday.
Cross after cross, from our left and right side, was hit too deep or simply sailed straight into the South Stand.
Yes, I realise we are a 3rd tier team, with 3rd tier players, but from what I seen yesterday, nothing much has changed from the second half of last season.
Creativity was lacking, we lacked cohesion, and even basic skills, such as passing a ball accurately to a colleague, looked beyond one or two players, yesterday.
We looked toothless up front, and the defence was at sixes and sevens.
Oxford could have been out of sight by half time, (they missed a sitter, scored one, and had what looked like a good headed goal, disallowed)
I know, that no team has ever won the league, or been relegated in August, so we still have plenty of time, to hopefully get any problems in midfield, defence, and attack, ironed out, but we really do need to improve on yesterday's result, and performance, and quickly.

Yes indeed plenty of effort but very little if any of skill and guile to prise open a moderate side.The thing is we are what we are a half decent league one side with huge attendances in a great stadium.This playing staff will not get us out of this division, who is worth any money apart from the keeper?that’s it.Certain other clubs in this division have sold players worth a lot more than any of ours as the sale of Honeyman at £400,000 proves if that’s true.Ross hasn’t a clue what to do it changes week after week we are powder puff where it matters selling Maja or allowing him to go was a terrible decision and we’ve paid for that since.A new man won’t be in now and unless we get two quality strikers in immediately which won’t happen as the owner won’t sanction any cash,if indeed we have any it’s another season of despair.

Our facilities are the best and we have a decent budget, but we are also a club with a lot of high earners eating into that budget which more established clubs at this level do not have.
Good facilities also cost money which eats into the budget further. More established clubs have poorer facilities, but less overheads.

We need to accept we are a League One club again this season. Being arrogant and expecting to walk the league based on a fancy stadium, decent crowds and a mythical "good budget" will do us no favours

I really don’t understand that post, we only have a big budget because we spend it on players and facilities? That’s kind of the point it’s not mythical.

Ross is out of his depth in this job and it's starting to show, badly.

SAFC supporters know shit football and a clueless manager when they see one.

There's only one way out for him but sadly he's not up to it.
 
Apparently last season once this 'gel' set we were going to be invincible, yet we got worse & worse as the season went on. We must be buying our 'gel' from the pound shop.

Ross decides to introduce a new system.
This system will mean the leagues best player will have to play out of position to fit into it.
It relies on having two specialist wing backs which he doesn’t have.
Safc arrange a mere 4 friendliest to get the system right.
The new right back who looks decent tbf is playing as a c.back.
We have about 3 shots at goal at home to a mid table aspiring oxford.
Our keeper is the busier of the two as oxford arguably shade the game.

Signs are all there - will be gone by mid September if not before - should be away now by the way.
 
That was f***ing shite yesterday, absolutely nothing at all has changed except we've become even less of a threat going forward. Only a dodgy looking (from my seat) penalty saved us. We created absolutely fuck all and still looked like we could concede at any minute at the back.
I said we should get rid after the playoff game and nothing he has done since has made me think differently, he's f***ing shite and far far far too defensively minded as a result of being shite at organising the defence

Of course you do...however doesnt mean its okay. Doesnt help the team. Its the 1st game of the season and half of them are new players ffs.

It was exactly the same issue as all of last season, how long do you give them to not change a f***ing thing?

How could we keep Maja when he wanted to go? Incidentally he didn’t set France alight and was injured for a substantial amount of time when he left. He did nothing to suggest he would have got us promoted.
