Honeyman to Hull?

IF we are only giving out max 2 year contracts or not renewing until the last year of players contracts we are never going to take in a large transfer fee. It's a balancing act and gives us some protection also if we buy anyone who doesn't perform - we are not stuck with paying them wages for years unable to shift them. It's where we are at the moment. I like Honeyman's attitude and remember seeing some of his games before he broke into the team - he looked a very clever player who could create and link up play. Once in the first team he seemed to take the role of an energetic player but who created very little! Hopefully for the lad with the pressure off him and a different challenge he will do well for Hull. I like Ross but that was a naive decision making him captain and despite talking him up he obviously came to realise he was not the answer and ultimately the majority of fans have been proven right - allowing him to leave also allows him to save face and pick a new captain due to circumstance.

If its true he had no intention of signing a new deal then we've had our hand forced in terms of accepting a lower fee for him. Getting the right player to play his role will allow someone like Grigg to flourish with the right service. Honeyman wasn't exactly the sort to commit a defender and play a ball in behind for a striker.

I am going off a lad on here who gets plenty info right that he knows for a fact Honeyman refused one. Of course he might be wrong but if he is right that does not sit well with me with him being our leader on the pitch. Him doing that means we ended up sending up Cattermole who has never taken a pen in his career
The problem with your point is Cattermole has had the armband far more than Honeyman in his career plus is/was the most experienced player on the pitch by a country mile..

As much as he's not the most popular player here.

I'm not going to lie, I was expecting more than 400k.

I'm sure he was linked with Sheff Wednesday a season ago for a few million.

People have spent over a year saying he is shit, does nothing and is National League standard and yet somehow think we should get more than £400K for him.

About as odd as people thinking he is shit and yet still wanting him to take a penalty at Wembley.

We have some utter idiots supporting us.

Whilst you're right of course, there are tens of thousands of posters, each with an opinion.

Its not a good idea to be captain when in moments to show real leadership qualities you hide either

Showing leadership is also about making the right choices, clever choices, not ones purely based on sentiment. Catts got it completely wrong at Wembley even though I wouldn't criticise him for it. If honeyman wasn't confident, had doubts, isn't good at pens etc then it makes no f***ing difference what shit you come out with regarding leadership. taking one simply because he was captain would have been sentiment wrongly placed.

Surely now this will get us Maddison. If it does then it’ll be great business. I’d be confident going into the new season with him on board.

Are you comparing the goal keeper to a player who has been through a full academy, technically sound and played in advanced positions all his footballing life ?

He should have took one. Was asked and said no. No bottle.

Glad he is going. He was a main reason we didn't go up last year. Making him captain meant be started to many games.

Ineffective. Don't care if he is a nice lad and cried on Netflix. Footballing ability was very poor when the going got tough.

Given that the argument is purely based on the captaincy and not the players ability, then why not?

Are you suggesting that goalkeepers can't be dead ball specialists too or that they can't have the particular skills required?

The difference in reactions between this news and news of Oviedo’s departure is f***ing embarrassing.

One was here because he cared, had grafted from a young age to play for us, contributed with a few goals & worked his bollocks off whenever he played.

The other was here because no-one else wanted him last summer.

Our support eh? Wonderful.
I agree. However, speaking to a couple of Sunderland fans last night, who arent on here, they were supportive of the lad (probably said a transfer was best all round mind) so I would say RTG does not always represent fans opinion fairly. Additionally social media does polarise opinion.

As i have previously said - Good luck to the lad. Whatever your views of George I believe he has always given 100% and that is as much as you can ask. As you say other players havent and it is them that deserve any abuse going.
