Honeyman to Hull?

250k upfront with another 250k potential add ons?

We are just giving players away now

A good move for the lad if true. He always gave 100% but I'm not convinced that he would fit into the side at present.
A sensible statement Shotleysafc. The lad only ever tries his best and does not deserve the criticism he receives. He is a good player but agree, at present I don't think he would be first choice in most peoples starting 11 and I think it was a bad move to make him captain again after it weighed so heavily on his shoulders last season. I understand the thought behind the decision but for me, Ross should have been honest with him and said that. George is a lovely lad and he was nothing but great with my son on a couple of occasions he met him. The first time was at Norwich away and he was travelling with the squad but not playing under Allardyce, the second he was just breaking through into the first team against Carlisle away. Top lad, going to be a great pro and I wish him well. It might be the making of him but I am not sure he will enjoy leaving Sunderland, he has been with the Academy since 8 years old and a born native to the north east.

who aid it was easily?

i reckon JR made him capatian to keep him here last year..didnt want to lose a player that had contributed so many goals in the championship, and thought the fans would back a local player...they dont.

Fans or people on here? I've heard one sarcastic round of applause when he was substituted after having a shocker.
Disappointing when an academy player leaves but in all honesty he is replaceable.
Ross made a balls up appointing him captain which made him pretty undropable.
Good luck to the lad, we move on.

My sentiments exactly. I like the lad but Ross painted himself into a corner by making him captain and he didn't deserve to be starting every week.

Whilst he got a canny return they masked a lot of piss poor performances. Games just pass him by.

So did Billy Jones when he left us. I'm assuming you think he was good enough?

The amount of times he was brushed off the ball in the second tier, the amount of times he gave the ball away, the amount of times he just looked absolutely lost, far outweighed the slight positive of him scoring six league goals.

He runs about, occasionally chips in with a goal and on the surface appears committed but his overall contribution has been negligible. If a Championship club have spotted something in him and think he's worth the punt then good luck to them. I think they'll soon realise he doesn't do a great deal

I think he can only play as a midfield 3. That's it. Nothing else. Be extremely surprised if he is more than a squad player for them.
The same applied to Catts and almost certainly Leadbitter also. Really hamstrung us by forcing us into playing the one formation whilst their combined weaknesses affected our ability to press the opposition.

About right for third division player in the last year of his contract. How much did we pay for Dobson?

Honeyman is worth at least around 800k- 1 million

Plenty of games in championship - only reason we accepted this very low bid is once again to save wages

How bad things have got in this respect

This is going to sound really weird, but I don’t think he’s good enough to be a regular starter at any level because he’s a jack of all trades, master of none.

However, I think he’s a very good utility player at Championship level because he’s able to fill in anywhere across the midfield and will put in a shift and do a decent enough job when there’s a regular player injured/suspended without disrupting the side too much.

wasnt £200k..and he is out of contract in a year and not garunteed first choice..

Hard worker but shouldn’t have been made captain.

Not sure what his position is, not good enough to play in a central midfield two, neither did he have the ability to play as a number ten.

Good luck to the lad but not gutted he left if I’m honest.

He has a year left and is a League One player who was average last season. Not a chance we were getting anywhere near what you quoted.
Have a look at League One transfer fees.

no, its also because hes in the last year of his contract and aged 24 would leave for nothing in the summer since we'd no longer get any compensation for him.
