brinkmanship is part of how you build for the future...paying to much for a player isnt..
i thinl, rightly or worngly, the onwers are trying to spend as little as they can get away with in this league, because it sholdnt cost much to get out of this league and they want to horde the cash for the championship...
but i do have some sympathy with your view..though they didnt do just enough last year..they broke the league transfer record and spent more than all other teams combined..they certainly didnt sign many with potential or resale value/..
Who said ‘pay too much’? You’re talking shite.

In the premiership we would need to pay players more to get them to come to us as we’re less of a draw than the majority of clubs. At league one level we’re more a draw....players at this level would rather play for us and the clubs around us struggle to compete for new players and hold onto existing players when we come calling. I’m simply saying that we don’t make the most of this because our leadership have little in the way of vision or a long term plan.

Their plan is simply to take no risks with their own money.

loook up the meaning of the word brinkmanship..if you dont use brinkmanship you end up paying more than you have to..

they signed grigg...for a league one record fee..that was a huge risk..

I'm not that fussed about another striker really. If we sign one for competition then great, but we won't get anyone with a better pedigree than Grigg.

SEB to death I know, but we need attacking midfielders who will create for and support the strikers. McGeady's great, Maguire is capable but that's about it. Honeyman works hard but he's not what we need in that area of the pitch, and Gooch disappointed last season. Watmore is a wild card.
Embleton will get his chance in the role you are suggesting i think.

Hopefully, but Embleton is untested at this level so you don't know how well he will do, Maddison has done it for the last 3 or 4 years so would be a quality addition.
maddison and embleton dont play in the same positon do they? whats maddisons attitude like..as you say he has done it regualrly for years..yet no on wants him...peterborough are a selling club like..
makes me think his attitude is shit..-
