Like Donald LoveI read RedCafe quite a bit and they are always moaning about how they sell their squad players for a pittance compared to City, Liverpool etc.

Yup.sunderland..eigth highest wage bill in the prem..got relagted..
big wage bill for the champo..got relegated..
spent more than all the other teams combined, broke the league transfer record, highest budget in the league by a mile...came 5th..
levy still do transfers...they did amazing business for years...pochs signings havent been wonderful like..not the big money ones..It's us obviously but Spurs had a spell where they would get fantastic fees for players only to waste it on expensive shite, Levy gets loads of plaudits but before Potch came he oversaw many a poor deal.
Probably us in recent years
Inter Milan in 1997/98 went mental and Mags got up to 5th. Chelsea came storming in at 2003/04 and got top the next season! Man City appeared 2008/9 and slowly climbed while Real Madrid pulled away 2009/10 with Chelsea on 2nd for 6 seasons and then Man City shot away 2016/17
It's Man City and Chelsea who fucked it up by getting shit loads of external investment. a lot of Man Utd's income was generated rather than from investement (or did the get millions pumped in years ago) but given their success since the start of the Premier League then it was understandable. I just saw this graphic today from this Reddit thread. Look at Man City and no doubt Chelsea will have been more if this went back further! We're on there along with Leicester without outside funds nearly double the any of the other teams. Leicester got success but we didn't. I'm not exactly sure where the figures are from but even just the Owner Financing numbers are interesting.I think Man Utd deliberately inflated the wages and transfer market because they had the revenue base to outcompete their rivals, but other clubs have caught up with them now.
According to the Guardian, De Gea has been offered a basic salary in excess of Sanchez's £390k pw and it's just matter of fact as if it's a routine operation.
