Yep, agree with that. Stokes mentioned it on interview too. With everything that happened in the game, that’s possibly the only truly logical explanation. It was our time.

Class, but someone needs to tell Vaughan he looks a proper cock with his shirt intentionally unbuttoned to unveil his chest.

One button too many undone you look like you are trying to be cool but look anything but. One button too many done up you look like a bit of a nerd. It is hard being a bloke, you are only ever one button away from looking a twat

that was last summer. ;)

this summer can claim second place though.
Well I had some excellent days at ware rooms and times Square. But cricket has been ahead of international footba since the 2002 world cup.

I thought if was quite mad it was a year to the day from the Croatia game to the Aussies game

Best final I’ve ever seen out of any sport. Perfect contest. Feel wretched for NZ really. I think they played the better game. But Stokes and Butlers parternship is the kind of foundation on which crickets greatest sagas are based.

I still think Test Cricket is the superior game but today convinced me that an ODI at its best can be just as good.

Hopefully today will be for this generation what 05 was for the last one was. The fact that anyone could watch it on telly like most of the other seminal cricket contests most people would name is hugely important.

not last summer it wasn't. The weather was just incredible and England were actually doing well. Granted the semi final put the brakes on rapidly but still

this summer has been damp and miserable for the vast majority of the time. The last week or so of Cricket has been excellent though.

He is absolved from all criticism because he brought The Ashes home AND he deliberately wound up Ricky Ponting by continuing to use sub fielders when he knew it was pissing him off

Talking of sub fielders - how many catches did Vince take in the last couple of matches? The ball was like a magnet to him when he came on.

I was fucked at the end like. My chest still feels a little tight in truth. Thought I was going to pass out

Crazy, same here. Going from despair to ecstasy in seconds virtually. Never known anything like it.

On the sky highlights they didn't show the stokes deflected 6 even though it's an hour long programme.

They did in one of the other slots but not in the main news story.

Highlights on sky missed the overthrow 6 last over. WTF. Showed stokes slog sweeping Boult for 6 then didn't show next ball. WTF.

WTF.

I hope to Christ the country goes Ashes-daft again like 05. The fact that there's a massive opportunity to ramp up the momentum a fortnight after today's events could be crucial. An opportunity that cannot be missed.

it was 05 that got me into cricket. Watching as much cricket as possible. Stood in Ashington High School's (home to Harmison and Mark Wood) lunch hall watching as much of the action on my lunch break as possible. Didn't know the rules but it didn't matter. Racing home to the nearest house of all the lads to watch the end of the days play. Great memories from a sport that I used to think was just the irritating 'filler' sport that Sky Sports News used to fill in quiet periods of the day on their news channel.

Yeah I just posted this. Went from 9 required to 3. It was probably one in the most remarkable passages of play in World Cup history yet they miss it out.
