I am not so sure, just my opinion. Think it was a bad signing. Old, big contact and doesn't exactly dominate the midfield.
I know hes in the latter stages of his career however he still has quality and brings a calmness in thr middle. He make players better as he is first class at retaining possession. He also looks to pass it forward and can pass it long, that's something McGeough hasn't shown.

He also wants to be here and has a desire for the club. These players are precious and people you want around your club.

No resale value, old and on big wages. It's what got us into this mess

Leadbitter is a far better player then McGeough

I don’t agree, but his role was to sit last year with Catts, so we never saw him push on to be fair.
Couldn’t believe we signed him at the time, but assumed JR had a plan.
The loss of Cattermole hopefully means an attacking midfielder plays alongside now, otherwise it’s same old form JR.

Still a better player as was Cattermole
Any plusses when being on the ball are negated by struggling to get around the pitch. Makes it difficult to play just a two in centre midfield when one of them doesn't have the legs to get up and down the pitch and can't close down effectively.

Eh? He was getting caught in possession plenty last season, and this he only looks to pass forward is a myth. He was canny on corners that was it. Your bias is based a lot on sentiment imo.

Spot on.

He’s a good player no doubt but wasn’t what we needed at the time. Like you I’m a fan of McGeouch just not a fan of the number of games he misses. I honestly think Leadbitter was signed because McGeouch missed too many games.

Might have been but not anymore. Lack of mobility is a major issue. It wasn't only Cattermole they were running past. Been watching Grant since he was 16, fantastic MLF but he ain't got the legs anymore.

Still a far better player than McGeouch

Come on man the only thing McGeouch does is take the easy option. He passes the ball back to the CB's or GK. His passing is no where near the level of Leadbitter and never will be.

There’s no doubting Leadbitter has been a better player, but his legs have gone.

McGeouch is a good player, imo, and has the mobility that Leadbitter doesn’t.

McGeoch is a players player - always there to receive the ball - unfortunately Grant no longer has the legs to do that
Give owa, a players player. I've heard it all now.

McGeouch couldn't lace Grant's boots.

I'll leave you to admire McGeouch keeping our CB's busy receiving the ball off him
