SMB Tennis thread (note there is a specific Wimbledon 22 thread)

I agree with your comments.
I also like Konta and would love to see her go on to win a Grand Slam.
She undoubtedly needs to find that something extra, for her to go from being a "nearly" player to winner.
The same unforced errors cost her dearly in Paris.
I think players should be given a 15 minute cooling off period after a match, before giving interviews.
Doing an interview straight after throwing a match away in the way she did, isn't the best idea imo.
She was emotional and the interviewer clearly hit a nerve with his questions.

I agree - if you have won that is one thing but after a defeat like that they need some time. I hate the press anyway - not bought a paper for decades.

It reminded me of the time Andy Murray had lost a Wimbledon singles final, and as runner up, he had to give a speech on court, straight after losing a huge match in front of his thousands of supporters.
He burst into tears and sobbed because he thought he'd let everybody down.
I really felt for the lad, as the huge expectations of the crowd, and the emotion of it all was too much for him.

His questions were totally relevant to the situation, particularly after what happened in France.

She can't go throwing lines to journalists like "in your professional tennis playing opinion?" and then accuse journalists of being patronising either.

I agree they were relevant and he hit a nerve. She wasn’t going to say that he was right and she is a bottler, so she reacted emotionally - understandable with things still being raw after the match.

I agree, though if she'd had some time to gather her thoughts and clear her head, she might have responded differently to the interviewers questions.
Am not a fan of interviews with footballers and managers, as soon as they leave the pitch.
Emotions run high in sport, especially after a gut wrenching defeat.
We all seen the Keegan (I'd love it) interview.
His outburst was the result of being interviewed straight after his team lost a vital, highly charged game.

Exactly this.

So, who, if any, will give the 'Big 3' the most problems today? Goffin, Nishikori or big Sam? Will any of them take a set?

Djokovic should win no bother, Federer might drop a set I reckon, Nadal should win easily but them daft serving robots like Querry are always capable of serving you off court on grass and you can literally do nothing about it other than hope you win the tie break. Stand to win 300 quid if they all make the semis so one of them is bound to get beat.

Goffin breaks first, and it had been coming - he had break points in previous games. 4-3.

Hope he can keep this up just to make a good game of it. Don't really mind who wins.

Novak breaks back immediately.

And then wins 8 games in a row. 6-4 5-0. Shame.

Jinxed it  might as well have an outline of djokovics name on the trophy now...
Hope Federer wins but just have a feeling about nishikori....want querrey to win but think rafa is the best bet to stop Djokovic :(

RBA has a crucial break in the 4th set and looks to be closing in. 'SerAndy' on the brink of going out, but Nishikori has made a good start - he got the immediate break, held and had 0-40 on Rog's 2nd service game, but couldn't convert, but still 2-1 up with the break.

Cant stand the Querrey's of the tennis world, they literally have nothing to give other than a big serve but that's all they need, it's not tennis at all.

Nadal keeps doing the hard work of breaking this clown but then throws it all away on his own serve.

Federer played really well there as did nishikori but querrey is playing at his best and getting absolutely nothing from rafa.
Want Federer to beat rafa but fear it won't happen.
Something will have to give between Djokovic Nadal if/when it happens, feel Novak has rafas number atm (except on clay)
