He is a scumbag.

You know your football, however is think you are miles off the mark with this. I could care less about ‘investment’ but I don’t like being talked down to by this idiot Methven.

Also, this bloke would have run off with what silver we had left. I’d be happy to get relegated to get rid of them. I fear that is the only way to be rid of the parasite. His view of the likes of me and you is lower than a snakes belly.

Agreed. No one can deny he is a smarmy, patronising twat. Donald seems a likeable bloke on a personal level. I could have a jar with him but this fella is pretty much as far away from my type of person as you could get.

Aye he's spot on. If you're moaning you're a 'so called fan'

What a load of shit
There are those who have a good moan. There are also those who moan and then make up negative stories/false scenarios. The latter group, who also hurl abuse at SD, CM deserve the criticism they get. I mean, come on, e.g. one poster refusing to read the article because of the photo at the beginning. Empty headed negativity and abuse. What kind of supporter is that? Can such folk be classed as ‘supporters’. By all means criticise but be sure it is valid and not founded on rumour and cowardly insinuations.

Moaning fannies? We’ve just had our lowest finish in club history, are stuck for a second season in the third tier for the first time in our history, there is also valid questions aimed at the owners which they’ve danced around multiple times including the majority owner losing his rag on social media at a person asking respectably about said questions. Now we have salmon pants having pot shots again, all isn’t as rosey behind the scenes as being made out it seems. People making stuff up is bullshit and has happened around football clubs forever but it seems cm doesn’t like fans questioning the owners at all. I fear this will end badly for us all.
Again, people are confusing questioning and asking legitimate questions, to the ridiculous shite some have been saying.

He isn’t smarmy. There you go!

We really do have some precious fans mind. The vast majority must know that his comments aren't aimed at them. He's literally listed a whole load of examples of things he thinks it's perfectly fair to be unhappy/ worried/ complain about, everything from kids leaving the academy (which they can't really prevent) through to whether we think their way of working would have a chance in the championship and being pissed off at only coming fifth. If any of that kind of thing is worrying you or pissing you off, he's explicitly stated that his comments aren't referring to you.

The only example he gave of something he considers unhelpful is fans getting in touch with a paper asking them to try and dig dirt on the owners. I would imagine you can also throw into the mix people who invent conspiracy theories then peddle them on places like this. He says so called fans because people like this aren't supporting at all whilst doing this, they might go to matches, they might not, but if they want what's best for the club they have to realise that shit like that be harmful. By all means question things, they even brought GOM in to discuss finances etc, so they're being as open and honest as owners of a business can be (but even then they have people effectively suggesting that GOM is in their pockets and the likes).

If we don't do good business in this transfer window and we start poorly it sounds like he fully expects and understands criticism. I imagine he'd be fine with people criticising the decision to keep Ross should that happen. Be as miserable and unhappy with our situation as you want (with good reason tbh), all he's saying is not to go around spreading disinformation, making libelous statements (like we've seen on here recently) and trying to get the gutter press to target them so that they have to waste time dealing with that instead of getting on with the job. I think it's fair enough

Excellent post.

I wish he’d stop saying inflammatory things - though if he’s talking about some of the ridiculous stuff currently being said online I’d frankly agree with his sentiment - but relegation marra? You’d want us to be in league 2 to get rid of two lads who have at least righted the club financially? I think that’s an absurd overreaction.

People will always whinge. There are people who attend week after week and whinge like fuck.

Unfortunately, life's serial whingers like everyone else has the internet and mobile devices, so the whinging can be kept up 24/7 on forums such as this. Likewise, direct access to the owner on Twitter always going to end up with him having to delete his account.

Excellent post. Will not be comprehended by the folk it’s aimed at like, unfortunately.

Sick of this f***ing bellend. Has a pop every single interview.

He once had a pint in a pub though, so he clearly loves the club and 'gets' it.

Spot on. Far too many on here are getting way out of line. They should certainly be open to criticism on football decisions but the posts and actions of far too many Safc fans this summer have been utterly childish and completely embarrassing. If the online Safc community is indicative of the fan base as a whole, they prove that in actual fact we don’t deserve good things - regardless of what we tell ourselves.

I posted this last night mate, but as a club we have a sizable element of fans that are extremely negative and rarely bother their arse to get to games. Previous ownership (including Quinny) have struggled with this element, and now it’s the turn of the new owners.

Sadly these fans are ridiculously precious and it’s take very little for them to be offended. They particularly hate being called out, despite the fact they probably know they are a bit shit.

I know posters will now moan and try and argue that SC holders can just be as negative, but the fundamental difference is SC at least commit their time and money to the club. The other element don’t and just moan to hide behind the fact they don’t go to the SOL.

I'm a SC holder and don't need him to question my support. He's part of the ownership of the club and it's his job to run it as efficiently and successfully as he can. My job is to support my team, my club, my Sunderland. He cannot sit there and call me out for having doubts. I've been attending since the early 70s and will be attending as long as I have the ability to do so. He can fuck right off as far as I'm concerned.
